Abstract:
A method of enhancing Quality of Experience (QoE) associated with an application flow for an end-user in a communication network comprises: receiving a packet belonging to the application flow, the packet comprising QoE information determined based on previous packets exchanged within the application flow; decoding the QoE information from the received packet; and adjusting a QoS mechanism for the packet, based on the decoded QoE information for enhancing the QoE of the application flow. A network node for carrying out this method is disclosed. Also, a method for relaying QoE associated with an application flow for an end-user in a communication network comprises: receiving packets belonging to the application flow; calculating QoE information based on the received packets; and sending the calculated QoE information back to the communication network, the QoE information being included in a packet belonging to the application flow. A network node for carrying out this method is disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods and nodes are provided for efficiently establishing a route between a mobile node and a correspondent node in a Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol network. A return routability procedure is used between a local mobility anchor and a media access gateway on one hand, and the correspondent node on the other hand. The procedure is made without involvement from the mobile node. The procedure is such that the correspondent node handles return routability as per standard mobile IP mechanisms. Following this return routability procedure, a binding of an address of the mobile node with an address of the media access gateway is stored in the correspondent node. This binding allows data traffic to flow between the mobile node and the correspondent node without passing through the local mobility anchor.
Abstract:
A method and nodes are provided for localizing traffic between communication nodes receiving service from a same network. A local mobility anchor informs media access gateways providing access to two communication nodes of each other's addresses. Traffic exchanged between the two communication nodes connected to the same network via these media access gateways are routed directly between the gateways, bypassing the local mobility anchor.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described which provide communication between a correspondent node and a mobile node including receiving a home prefix of the mobile node and a list of correspondent nodes by a mobile access gateway having an access link with the mobile node and submitting proxy binding update messages by the mobile access gateway to a home agent corresponding to the mobile node and to each of the correspondent nodes in the list.
Abstract:
A method and access point (AP) for providing real-time service access to a user equipment in a packet data network. The AP receives an authentication information message from an authentication server. The authentication information message includes an identity of the UE involved in a real-time service with a corresponding node and information data for authenticating the UE at the AP. The AP detects that the UE enters the zone coverage of the AP and sends a puzzle from the AP to the UE. The AP further receives from the UE an answer for the puzzle and verifies the received answer for authenticating the UE at the AP. Afterwards, the UE is allowed to continue the real-time service with the corresponding node.
Abstract:
Antenna sharing techniques are described. A mobile computing device may comprise an antenna, a switch to couple to the antenna, and multiple transceivers to couple to the switch. The mobile computing device may also comprise an antenna management module to couple to the switch and the transceivers. The antenna management module may control the switch to electrically connect one of the transceivers to the antenna. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.
Abstract:
A system and method for virtualizing a flow switch to be used by application providers in a cloud computing environment is provided. An application provider's packet handling rules are received by a cloud management system. The rules are translated from the application provider's overlay topology to the underlay data center topology. The underlay network elements involved in the received rules can be identified. A translated rule can be decomposed into a plurality of rule portions which are transmitted to the appropriate underlay network elements.
Abstract:
A system and method for steering traffic through a set of services is provided. A service path or service chain is assigned to a received packet based on a classification of the packet and correlation of the packet with a traffic flow. A new service chain identifier can be created if no such correlation exists. A next service type and a particular instance of the next service type can be determined in accordance with the service chain identifier. A next destination for the traffic can be set in accordance with the instance of the next service.
