摘要： A system and method for providing encrypted data for use in a content player are described. The system comprises an encryption device for encrypting data using an encryption algorithm, and a protection device for providing security device data and for providing information on a protocol for communication between the content player and a secure device. The system also comprises a control device for providing protected contents containing the encrypted data and the secure device data. The protocol information and attribute data may be on the different parts inside the protected contents. The encrypted data can be transmitted or stored on a suitable medium. A system and method for decrypting encrypted data in a content player is also described. The system may comprise an input for receiving protected contents containing encrypted data, secure device data, information on a communication protocol, and attribute data on the different parts inside the protected contents.

摘要： In a method for operating a conditional access system for broadcast applications, the conditional access system comprising a number of subscribers and each subscriber having a terminal including a conditional access module and a secure device for storing entitlements, a source signal is encrypted using a first key (CW). The encrypted source signal is broadcasted for receipt by the terminals, wherein entitlement control messages (ECM's) are sent to the secure devices, the ECM's comprising the first keys (CW) encrypted using a service key (PT). Entitlement management messages (EMM's) are sent to the secure devices providing the service key (PT) required to decrypt encrypted first keys (CW). A cracked secure device which is used in an unauthorized manner is traced by sending different keys required to obtain the first keys to different terminals or groups of terminals and monitoring the key information provided by a pirate. To this end search EMM's are sent to at least a part of the terminals, the search EMM's providing at least the service key (PT) and a dummy key (PD1 or PD2). At least the search EMM's comprise identifiers identifying the keys (PT and PD1 or PD2), wherein first search EMM's with the keys (PT and PD1) are sent to a first part of the terminals and second search EMM's with the keys (PT and PD2) are sent to a second part of the terminals An ECM identifying the service key (PT) to be used to decrypt the encrypted first key (CW), is sent to all secure devices just before the first key (CW) is needed to decrypt the source signal.

摘要： A system for broadcasting data signals in a secure manner comprises means for encrypting the data signals using a first key, means for broadcasting the encrypted data signals to subscribers, means for decrypting the encrypted data signals at each of the subscribers using the first key, and means for encrypting the first key using a second key. The second key is different for each group of subscribers having a common interest in a type of programs. The system further comprises means for broadcasting the encrypted first key to all subscribers and means for decrypting the encrypted first key at each of the subscribers using the second key. The second key is a combination of a key common to all subscribers and a difference key which is unique per type of programs. Means are provided for encrypting the common key and for broadcasting the encrypted common key to all subscribers, the subscribers having means for decrypting the encrypted common key at each of the subscribers.

The primary control words can then be used for purposes such as tracing compromise of the conditional access system, or arranging for differently fingerprinted content to be decoded at different receivers or groups of receivers.

The method comprises the steps of (a) for each receiver in the plurality of receivers, providing that receiver with access to first control information for that receiver to enable that receiver to access a first portion of the content; (b) identifying a receiver from the plurality of receivers as an identified receiver; (c) updating the first control information so as to provide updated control information for each receiver, the updated control information being associated with a second portion of the content; and (d) configuring each receiver to fetch the updated control information for that receiver. For the identified receiver, the updated control information is invalid such that the identified receiver is unable to fully access the second portion of the content. A server configured to carry out the method is also described.

A key message carrying key information for obtaining the key value associated with the certain key period is included in the stream of key messages so as to coincide with a point of the encrypted output data stream preceding the tail end of the replacement data stream section.

If, for any of at least one region in the final array (27;28), any of a sequence of sets of at least one intensity value, wherein each set represents the region and forms part of one of a selected plurality of the obtained arrays of intensity values, contains intensity values deviating by more than a certain measure from those in the other sets of the sequence, the intensity values representing that region in the final array (27; 28) are each derived from (A) a respective intensity value from each of one or more arrays based on respective ones of only those of the selected plurality of arrays containing a set with deviating intensity values, or (B) a respective intensity value from each of one or more arrays based on respective ones of only those of the selected plurality of arrays containing one of the other sets of intensity values.
