Abstract:
Provided herein are systems, devices and methods for the correction of spinal deformities with the use one or more implantable rods configured to apply a corrective force to the spine. Methods of minimally invasive implantation of a corrective system are provided, such as where the corrective system is attached only to the spinous process of one or more vertebral bodies. Various corrective systems as well as components thereof are also provided.

Abstract:
An interactive alert system displayed on a video monitor. The system comprises a first video stream presenting at least video information, the first video stream comprising a viewer channel, and an overlay video stream, displayed simultaneously with the first video stream, wherein the overlay video stream provides information on a second video stream.
Abstract:
A stabilized filament drawing device for a meltspinning apparatus. The stabilized filament drawing device applies a high-velocity flow of air to attenuate the filaments, which are discharged from a device outlet in a discharge direction. The filament drawing device includes multiple inclined guides adjacent to the outlet that cause the high-velocity flow of air to deviate from the discharge direction by the Coanda effect. The filaments, which are entrained in the high-velocity process air, likewise deviate from the discharge direction. The guides are arranged such that spaces are absent between adjacent guides.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an interactive matrixed video channel presented on a monitor, with a plurality of individual video feeds being presented at a given time. An interactive matrixed video channel in accordance with the present invention comprises a plurality of video cells presenting at least video information, each video cell associated with one of the plurality of individual video feeds, a text box, and a control bar; wherein a command displayed on the control bar selects a screen for display on the monitor, the screen comprising information related to at least one of the video cells associated with one of the plurality of individual video feeds.
Abstract:
Apparatus, device, and methods for fragmenting high molecular weight molecular ions, such as peptides or proteins, by treating the ions with predetermined wavelengths of light are described. Vacuum ultraviolet radiation as a source of predetermined wavelengths of laser light is described in one embodiment. A device (50) is described having a sample, such as a peptide, protein, protein digest, and the like enters through inlet (55) and is irradiated with a first source of light (60), which illustratively may be a laser light. The first source of laser light is illustratively at a wavelength and energy sufficient to convert molecules in the sample into molecular or precursor ions.
Abstract:
Novel femoral implants for use in hip arthroplasty are described and illustrated. The femoral implant comprise a stem and neck portion, with the neck portion having a novel configuration that provides for improved range in motion for the prosthesis without compromising strength of the implant.
Abstract:
A lamellar die apparatus for extruding a heated liquid into filaments and directing air at the filaments. The apparatus includes a plurality of plates each having opposite side faces. At least two of the side faces confront each other and have a liquid passage positioned therebetween for transferring the heated liquid. At least two of the side faces confront each other and have an air passage positioned therebetween for transferring the air. At least two of the side faces confront each other and have a heating element passage therebetween. A heating element is positioned within the heating element passage for heating at least two of the plates. An extrusion die is coupled with the plurality of plates and communicates with the liquid passage and the air passage for discharging the heated liquid as multiple filaments and for discharging the air at the filaments.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and methods correction of spinal deformity that overcome current limitations by utilizing a dynamic, multi-segment torso orthosis that allows motion during wear. The disclosed embodiments utilize a series of elastically coupled segments that conform to the circumference of the torso of a patient. Adjustable elastic coupling mechanisms are utilized to create and alter forces and moments that are applied to the torso through the segments. These elastic coupling mechanisms also allows each circumferential segment to move relative to the other segments giving the brace dynamic capability.
