摘要: An extracorporeal blood processing system which includes a disposable assembly. The system includes a disposable assembly that has integral fluid passageways. A blood removal conduit and a blood return conduit are interconnected with the integral fluid passageways. A diaphragm is mounted in the disposable assembly and is removably attachable to a sensor via a number of alternative connection devices. In one embodiment, the sensor may include a transducer that is capable of measuring the force exerted on the diaphragm. The corresponding force may be correlated to a pressure of fluid in either the blood removal conduit and/or the blood return conduit.

摘要: An extracorporeal blood processing system is disclosed which includes a variety of novel components and which may be operated in accordance with a variety of novel methodologies. For instance, the system includes a graphical operator interface which directs the operator through various aspects of the apheresis procedure. Moreover, the system also includes a variety of features relating to loading a blood processing vessel into a blood processing channel and removing the same after completion of the procedure. Furthermore, the system also includes a variety of features relating to utilizing a blood priming of at least portions of the apheresis system in preparation for the procedure. In addition, the system includes a variety of features enhancing the performance of the apheresis system, including the interrelationship between the blood processing vessel and the blood processing vessel and the utilization of high packing factors for the procedure.

摘要: A peristaltic pump for providing enhanced maintenance of a position of an interface between a substantially flexible tube and at least one roller which compressively engages such tube. In one embodiment, two rollers are incorporated on a rotor and are biased toward a raceway by a pivotal action to substantially totally occlude the tube between the rollers and the raceway. The biasing forces for each roller are provided by a pair of concentrically-positioned helical springs. Each of the springs, acting alone, is individually capable of generating sufficient biasing forces to substantially totally occlude the tube in one aspect of the invention. In another aspect, the force generating capabilities applied to these rollers are also monitored. In this regard, a visual indicator assembly is interconnected, for instance, with the above-identified springs. In the event of any reduction in the force applied to the roller by such springs, which may impair the roller's ability to engage the tube in the desired manner, a visual indication is provided of such a condition.
