摘要： A method of responding to an anomalous change in downhole pressure in a bore hole comprises detecting the anomalous change in downhole pressure, sending a signal along the segmented electromagnetic transmission path, receiving the signal, and performing a automated response. The anomalous change in downhole pressure is detected at a first location along a segmented electromagnetic transmission path, and the segmented electromagnetic transmission path is integrated into the tool string. The signal is received by at least one receiver in communication with the segmented electromagnetic transmission path. The automated response is performed along the tool string. Disclosed is an apparatus for responding to an anomalous change in downhole pressure in a downhole tool string, comprising a segmented electromagnetic transmission path connecting one or more receivers and at least one pressure sensor.

摘要： A system for forming a liner downhole within a well bore has a rig comprising a tool string driving mechanism and an aperture proximate an opening of a well bore. The system also has first and second tool string components and each component has a central bore disposed intermediate first and second tool joints of the component. The first tool joint of the first component is disposed proximate the aperture and the second tool joint of the second component. First and second resilient lining materials are disposed within the central bore of the first and second tool string components respectively. At least one lining material connecting mechanism is disposed proximate the aperture. The system also comprises at least one downhole dispenser that is adapted to direct a resilient continuous lining material against the well bore to form a liner.

摘要： A system for transmitting information between downhole components has a first downhole component with a first mating surface and a second downhole component having a second mating surface configured to substantially mate with the first mating surface. The system also has a first transmission element with a first communicating surface and is mounted within a recess in the first mating surface. The first transmission element also has an angled surface. The recess has a side with multiple slopes for interacting with the angled surface, each slope exerting a different spring force on the first transmission element. A second transmission element has a second communicating surface mounted proximate the second mating surface and adapted to communicate with the first communicating surface.

摘要： An apparatus has a downhole tubular body having a bore with a central axis. An electrical conductor assembly is disposed within the bore of the tubular component, the assembly having a first end, a second end, a first conductor, and a second conductor electrically isolated from the first conductor. At least one end of the assembly has a polished mating surface which has an electrically conductive portion surrounded by a dielectric material. The electrically conductive portion is in electrical communication with the first conductor. The first and second ends of the electrical conductor assembly are substantially aligned to the central axis of the bore by stabilizing elements within the bore.

摘要： In one aspect of the invention, a system for removing a layer of a paved surface includes a vehicle adapted to traverse a paved surface in a selected direction. A milling drum attached to the vehicle may be adapted to rotate around an axle substantially normal the selected direction of the vehicle. A moldboard may be positioned rearward of the milling drum and also connected to the vehicle. The moldboard may comprise an end that is adapted to push aggregate removed from the paved surface in the selected direction. A plurality of nozzles may be disposed proximate the end of the moldboard which may also be in communication with a fluid reservoir through a fluid pathway.

摘要： In one aspect of the invention, a high-speed measurement system has a first and a second well bore. A first and second plurality of network nodes is integrated into and spaced at intervals along the first and second well bore, respectively. A communications channel connects each plurality of network nodes forming a first and second downhole network. A signal source is in communication with the first downhole network and a signal receiver is in communication with the second downhole network; and a common clock source is in communication with both the signal source and the signal receiver over the first and second downhole networks, respectively. The signal source and signal receiver are synchronized with the clock source and the signal source is adapted to send a signal to the signal receiver through a subterranean formation.

摘要： An apparatus for degrading and removing a paved surface is disclosed in one aspect of the invention as including a vehicle to travel across a paved surface, a pavement degradation tool coupled to the vehicle and adapted to degrade the paved surface while rotating about an axis substantially normal to the paved surface, and a vacuum device coupled to the vehicle and adapted to remove pavement fragments produced by the pavement degradation tool. The vacuum device may include several intake channels to draw in the degraded pavement fragments. In selected embodiments, these intake channels may be connected to two or more independently moveable banks.

摘要： A composite heat spreader is disclosed in one embodiment of the invention as including an input interface to conduct heat from a heat source, such as an integrated circuit, and an output interface to transfer heat to a heat sink. A support material having a first thickness is provided between the input interface and the output interface. One or more diamond monocrystals are embedded in the support material and have a second thickness which is at least 20% of the first thickness. In some embodiments, the diamond monocrystals extend from the input interface to the output interface. These one or more diamond monocrystals may be either rough or finished diamonds.
