Abstract:
A horizontal flat-fold, filtering face-piece respirator 10 that includes a harness 14 and a mask body 12 that has a front surface, a first perimeter 24a, and a longitudinal axis 34. A nose clip 30 is secured to the mask body 12 centrally and adjacent to the first perimeter 24a of the mask body 12. An indicia 32 that is visible on the front surface of the mask body 12 in a vicinity of the nose clip 30 is provided to highlight a longitudinal axis of symmetry of the nose clip. The use of such an indicia, visible from the mask body front surface, enables a user to readily identify where the nose clip may be bent to prepare it for donning by the wearer.
Abstract:
The present invention is a filter that includes a length of filter media and a continuous, substantially nonlinear adhesive strand. The filter media has a front face and a rear face. The filter media has a plurality of pleats defined by a plurality of fold lines, each fold line being intermediate oppositely sloping first and second wall surfaces. The plurality of fold lines comprise a first plurality of pleat tips and a second plurality of pleat valleys. The adhesive strand is provided on the front face of the filter media in discontinuous contact with the filter media. The adhesive strand contacts the filter media at a pleat tip and contacts the filter media at a portion of a first wall surface and contacts the filter media at a portion of a second wall surface.
Abstract:
Face masks that are provided in a generally flat configuration and are capable of being expanded to a cup-shaped configuration. Such masks include at least one porous layer that includes at least one pleat and that is capable of being expanded by at least partially unfolding the at least one pleat. The mask further includes at least one stiffening element that comprises at least one engaging feature. Upon expanding the porous layer, the engaging feature engages with the porous layer so as to enhance the ability of the mask to maintain the expanded, cup-shaped configuration.

Abstract:
A flat-fold, filtering, face-piece respirator 10 that has a harness 14, a mask body 12, and first and second flanges 30a, 30b. The mask body 12 is capable of being folded flat for storage and can be opened into a cup-shaped configuration for use. The mask body 12 comprises a filtering structure 16 and has the first and second flanges 30a, 30b disposed on first and second mask body sides. The first and second flanges 30a, 30b project both laterally x and frontally y from the mask body 12. The provision of the flanges on each side of the respirator is beneficial to ease of mask donning, doffing, and adjustment, and to face fit and maintaining the open shape or configuration of the mask body.
Abstract:
There is provided a framed filter for insertion into a filter housing having a frame surrounding at least part of a filtration media with a fluid inlet face and a fluid outlet face, the frame comprising at least one longitudinally extending sidewall portion provided with one or more flexible side seals which side seal is provided with at least one longitudinally extending rib extending in the lengthwise direction of the seal on an outwardly facing surface of the seal.
Abstract:
A continuous strip of framing material suitable for use in making filter products that can be provided of indefinite length and which is storable as a flat product capable of being wound into roll form. Moreover, the continuous strip of framing material includes features to create a three-dimensional frame structure for wrapping about filtration media in a manner to provide a strong and effective filter product assembly.
Abstract:
There is provided a pleated zig-zag filter in a filter frame assembly. The filter frame has triangular shaped pleats stabilizing elements on two sidewalls with the pleat stabilizing elements forming a pleat retaining gap that frictionally engage with the filter pleat tips on one face of the filter holding the filter in the frame assembly. The pleat stabilizing elements engage the filter pleat tips on the second face.
