摘要:
A golf ball with a controlled moment of inertia and controlled spin rate is disclosed. The increase in moment of inertia is preferably accomplished by a reduction in the specific gravity or weight of the core, e.g., by foaming. Preferably, this reduction is less than about 15% in specific gravity or less than about 25% in weight to minimize the reduction in the coefficient of restitution of the core.

Multi-layer golf balls having a relatively hard outer core surrounding a relatively soft, low compression inner core are provided. The inner core generally has a compression of less than 50 and the inner core and outer core generally have a combined dual core compression of 50 or greater. The outer core generally has a Shore C hardness of 80 or greater. A cover, which can be a single-, dual-, or multi-layer cover, is provided to surround the outer core. A moisture barrier layer is optionally provided between the outer core and the cover. The moisture vapor transmission rate of the moisture barrier layer is preferably less than the moisture vapor transmission rate of the cover.

A golf ball is disclosed that provides a softer feel, resilient core for decreased spin rate. The golf ball has a dual-layered core surrounded by a dual-layered cover. The volume of the inner layer of the dual layer core is at least about 70% of the total volume of the inner core layer and the outer core layer. The inner core has a diameter from about 1.25 inches up to about 1.55 inches. The outer core has a diameter from about 1.55 inches up to about 1.62 inches. The compression of the dual core is from about 60 to about 100. The outer core layer is constructed from materials that provide for a Shore C hardness of at least about 80. The dual-layer cover includes an inner layer having a Shore D hardness of at least about 60 and a thickness of about 0.015 inches to about 0.055 inches. The outer core layer has a Shore D hardness of about 62 or less and a thickness less than about 0.035 inches.

The present invention is directed to an improved golf ball displaying the desired spin profile and having a generally rigid, thermoset polybutadiene outer core surrounding a relatively soft, low compression inner core. In general, this golf ball has an inner core and at least one outer core layer surrounding the inner core. The inner core has a hardness less than a hardness of the outer core and a specific gravity less than or equal to the outer core specific gravity. Overall the inner core compression and outer core are formulated to provide a combined overall core compression of greater than about 50, preferably greater than about 70. A cover layer is provided to surround and to cover the outer core layer. A moisture barrier layer is provided between the outer core layer and the cover layer to protect the inner and outer cores from degradation due to exposure to water. The moisture vapor transmission rate of the moisture barrier layer is selected to be less than the moisture vapor transmission rate of the cover layer.

A high performance golf ball having a reduced overall distance while maintaining the appearance of a high performance trajectory. The golf ball includes a combination of low CoR core and cover materials coupled with a less efficient aerodynamic dimple pattern that achieves a reduction in carry and overall distance of at least 5 yards versus a conventional golf ball, while still providing the look, sound, feel and apparent flight of a conventional golf ball. A high performance golf ball having a reduced distance is also achieved by maintaining the lift to weight ratio to be greater than 1.5 at a Reynolds number of about 205,000 and a spin rate of 2900 rpm.

The present invention provides golf balls comprising a low specific gravity intermediate layer formed from a moisture resistant composition and disposed between a core and a cover. Depending on the thickness and specific gravity of the various layers, among other factors, the moment of inertia of the golf balls can be high or low,

This invention is directed to golf balls having at least two adjacent layers, wherein a coating layer of metal materials is on at least one surface of the adjacent layers. The adhesion of the adjacent layer is improved by induction heating. The invention also is directed to ink solution for golf equipment comprising metal materials that can improve adhesion of the ink to the golf equipment.
