摘要: An apparatus and method for joining pipes includes a plate for melting mating surfaces of the pipes to be joined. Additionally, the apparatus utilizes a vacuum in order to push the first and second pipes together in lieu of hand or mechanical pressure which may be inconsistent. Additionally, the vacuum allows the pipes to be joined to settle on each other in order to create a pressure about a periphery of the end of the pipe being joined to the other pipe. The consistent pressure creates a very strong joint between the first and second pipes.

摘要: An induction heating tool that holds voltage or current supplied to the induction tank circuit constant and tracks changes in the other of voltage or current during each induction heating cycle. The disclosed induction heating tool exploits the fact that the resistance an attachment plate increases along with the temperature of the attachment plate. During an induction heating cycle, the attachment plate is magnetically coupled to a work coil and the resistance of the attachment plate is reflected to the circuit. Changes in the resistance of the attachment plate alter the pattern of energy delivery from the work coil to the attachment plate in a predictable way. Calculations accurately predict the temperature of the attachment plate over a wide variety of ambient conditions, including the presence of moisture at the membrane/attachment plate interface. The disclosed induction heating tool produces consistent results without calibration for ambient conditions.

摘要: A method of mechanically securing a first object including a thermoplastic material in a solid state to a second object with a generally flat sheet portion, with a perforation of the sheet portion, and with the sheet portion having an edge along the perforation is provided, wherein the first object is positioned relative to the second object so that the edge is in contact with the thermoplastic material and wherein mechanical vibration energy is coupled into the assembly including the first and second objects until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material due to friction heat generated between the edge and the thermoplastic material becomes flowable and flows around the edge to at least partially embed the edge in the thermoplastic material. After the mechanical vibration stops, the thermoplastic material is caused to re-solidify, whereby the re-solidified thermoplastic material at least partially embedding the edge anchors the first object in the second object.

摘要: A method for joining two objects by anchoring an insert portion provided on one of the objects in an opening provided on the other one of the objects. The anchorage is achieved by liquefaction of a thermoplastic material and interpenetration of the liquefied material and a penetrable material, the two materials being arranged on opposite surfaces of the insert portion and the wall of the opening. Before such liquefaction and interpenetration, an interference fit is established in which such opposite surfaces are pressed against each other, and, for the anchoring, mechanical vibration energy and possibly a shearing force are applied, wherein the shearing force puts a shear stress on the interference fit.

摘要: A tubular body (1) made of a fiber-reinforced plastic and used as a structural material of a vehicle includes corners (4) extending along an axis of the tubular body (1) on an outer circumferential surface thereof. The tubular body (1) is a tubular laminate that is formed by laminating a fabric layer (12) formed by laminating fabric materials and unidirectional material layers (11, 13). Each fabric material includes a fabric in which reinforcing fibers are woven and a plastic with which the fabric is impregnated. Each unidirectional material layer (11, 13) includes reinforcing fibers oriented in one direction and a plastic with which the reinforcing fibers are impregnated. The reinforcing fibers of each unidirectional material layer (11, 13) are oriented along the axis of the tubular laminate. The unidirectional material layers (11, 13) include an outer unidirectional material layer (13) laminated on an outer circumferential surface of the fabric layer (12), and an inner unidirectional material layer (11) laminated on an inner circumferential surface of the fabric layer.
