Abstract: An apparatus and method of rendering audio. A binaural signal is split on an amplitude weighting basis into a front binaural signal and a rear binaural signal, based on perceived position information of the audio. In this manner, the front-back differentiation of the binaural signal is improved.

Abstract: Audio signals are received. The audio signals include left and right surround channels. The audio signals are played back using far-field loudspeakers distributed around a space having a plurality of listener positions. The left and right surround channels are played back by a pair of far-field loudspeakers arranged at opposite sides of the space having the plurality of listener positions. An audio component coinciding with or approximating audio content common to the left and right surround channels is obtained. The audio component is played back using at least a pair of near-field transducers arranged at one of the listener positions. Associated systems, methods and computer program products are provided. Systems, methods and computer program products providing a bitstream comprising the audio signals and the audio component are also provided, as well as a computer-readable medium with data representing such audio content.

Abstract: Improved tools for authoring and rendering audio reproduction data are provided. Some such authoring tools allow audio reproduction data to be generalized for a wide variety of reproduction environments. Audio reproduction data may be authored by creating metadata for audio objects. The metadata may be created with reference to speaker zones. During the rendering process, the audio reproduction data may be reproduced according to the reproduction speaker layout of a particular reproduction environment.

Abstract: Input audio data, including first microphone audio signals and second microphone audio signals output by a pair of coincident, vertically-stacked directional microphones, may be received. An azimuthal angle corresponding to a sound source location may be determined, based at least in part on an intensity difference between the first microphone audio signals and the second microphone audio signals. An elevation angle corresponding to a sound source location may be determined, based at least in part on a temporal difference between the first microphone audio signals and the second microphone audio signals. Output audio data, including at least one audio object corresponding to a sound source, may be generated. The audio object may include audio object signals and associated audio object metadata. The audio object metadata may include at least audio object location data corresponding to the sound source location.

Abstract: During a process, decorrelation may be selectively applied to audio data for an audio object based, at least in part, on whether a speaker for which speaker feed signals will be determined is a surround speaker. In some implementations, decorrelation may be selectively applied according to whether such a speaker is a height speaker. Some implementations may reduce, or even eliminate, audio artifacts such as comb-filter notches and peaks. Some such implementations may increase the size of a “sweet spot” of a reproduction environment.

Abstract: Audio objects that are present in input audio content in one or more frames are determined. Output clusters that are present in output audio content in the one or more frames are also determined. Here, the audio objects in the input audio content are converted to the output clusters in the output audio content. Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a method of representing spatial rendering metadata for processing in an object-based audio system that allows for lossless interpolation and/or re-sampling of the metadata. The method comprises time stamping the metadata to create metadata instances, and encoding an interpolation duration to with each metadata instance that specifies the time to reach a desired rendering state for the respective metadata instance. The re-sampling of metadata is useful for re-clocking metadata to an audio coder and for the editing audio content.
