Abstract:
A method of estimating a finger movement comprising acquiring a navigation evaluation image from each of at least three navigation subareas of a fingerprint sensor; determining, for each of the navigation evaluation images, a navigation-related property of the navigation evaluation image; evaluating the navigation-related properties to find a combination of at least a first navigation-related property and a second navigation-related property that fulfills a navigation requirement; and selecting at least a first navigation subarea related to the first navigation-related property and a second navigation subarea related to the second navigation-related property. The finger movement is then estimated using a sequence of first navigation images acquired using the first navigation subarea, and a sequence of second navigation images acquired using the second navigation subarea.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method of performing fingerprint based authentication from matching local features represented by binary features which can be matched in an efficient implementation in one or both of software and hardware by computing Hamming distances between the binary features. A local feature in a verification image is said to be matching with a local feature in an enrolment image if the Hamming distance between the binary features falls below a pre-determined threshold. The computer-implemented method retains information about the similarity of local features in the two images and utilities it in an efficient way with the objective of improving fingerprint recognition rates and enabling finger liveness detection. In an aspect a normalized feature similarity distribution is generated as part of the representation in recognition and liveness detection.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to a method for authenticating a candidate fingerprint using a fingerprint authentication system, and specifically to the possibility of using personalized fingerprint sensor setting for a fingerprint sensor comprised with the fingerprint authentication system. The invention also relates to a corresponding electronic device and to a computer program product. Advantages with the invention include a minimized processing time for acquiring a good quality fingerprint image, thus increasing user convenience. The invention also relates to a corresponding fingerprint sensing system and to a computer program product.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method, a system, a device for enrolling biometric data of a body part to be used for user authentication, using a two-dimensional sensor. The method comprises capturing, using the two-dimensional sensor, images representing different views of the body part, stitching the images into at least one mosaic, generating at least one constructed image by determining at least one area of interest in the mosaic, the area of interest representing an additional view of the body part, and extracting image data of the area of interest, and enrolling the constructed images in a set of templates to be used for user authentication.
