    Abstract: It is arranged so that the user of a camera will not experience a sense of incongruity when the camera is switched between an optical viewfinder and an electronic viewfinder. When the electronic viewfinder function is set, the image of a subject captured by a solid-state electronic image sensing device is displayed on the display screen of a liquid crystal device and a viewfinder shutter closes. When the optical viewfinder function is set, the viewfinder shutter opens and the image of the subject is not displayed on the liquid crystal device. At the time of a changeover between the electronic viewfinder function and the electronic viewfinder function, the image of the subject being displayed on the liquid crystal device gradually vanishes, or the image of the subject is gradually displayed on the liquid crystal device, while the opening and closing of the viewfinder shutter is tracked. Sudden darkening and sudden brightening at the time of the viewfinder changeover is prevented.

    Abstract: The image display apparatus according to an aspect of the present invention comprises: an image input device which inputs an image signal; a particular target detection device which detects a particular target included in the image signal based on a particular target evaluation value indicating the feature of the particular target; a frame display information generation device which generates frame display information indicating a frame surrounding the detected particular target and which causes the frame to change continuously or by stages according to the particular target evaluation value; and a display device which displays the frame based on the generated frame display information. That is, by causing the frame to change continuously or by stages according to the evaluation value of a particular target, it is possible to avoid sudden change in the frame display.

    Abstract: A camera main body includes a mount, a solid-state imaging element, a main body controller, a main body side storage section, and a rear surface display section. In the mount, a plurality of types of interchangeable lenses are selectively mounted. The main body controller acquires a lens type of each interchangeable lens mounted on the mount, counts the number of mounting operations and the number of imaging operations for each lens type of the interchangeable lens, and stores the result in the main body side storage section. In a case where the interchangeable lens is mounted on the mount, the main body controller changes a setting menu to be displayed on the rear surface display section in accordance with the lens type acquired from the interchangeable lens, and the number of mounting operations and the number of imaging operations corresponding to the lens type.
