Abstract:
A unit for applying first and second tabs, obtained from first and second webs, to a chassis web includes an applicator drum rotatable about an axis and including a main body. A plurality of carriers is movable between a lowered position close to the axis and a raised position away from the axis, each including a suction portion. A first carrier first suction and non-suction portions aligned along the axis. A second carrier includes second suction and non-suction portions aligned along the axis. The first suction portions alternate with the second non-suction portions and the first non-suction portions alternate with the second suction portions. A first system holds the first web on the applicator drum upstream of a cutting device. A second system holds the second web on the drum upstream of the cutting device.

Abstract:
A machine for making absorbent sanitary articles, where each article includes components progressively positioned relative to each other and assembled along a production line. The machine includes a programmable electronic controller device having a shift register, at least one optical inspection system connected to the programmable electronic controller device, and an operator interface connected to the electronic controller. The programmable electronic controller device generates a machine sync signal, a trigger signal for activating the optical inspection system in phase with the sync signal and a shift register shift command. The optical inspection system receives the trigger signal and has a defined maximum response time which produces at least one band of uncertainty. The operator sets with the operator interface the instant of activating the shift register shift command outside the band of uncertainty and between two consecutive sync signals defining a machine step.
Abstract:
A device for folding a web for producing absorbent sanitary articles along at least one longitudinal fold line parallel to its feed direction includes two diverting elements positioned on opposite sides of the web one after the other, to operate in succession on respective lateral portions of the web and allow transversal folding of one lateral portion on the other and both on the web. Each diverting element has a diverting surface which is used for folding and which is equipped with a plurality of holes to emit jets of air under pressure at a tangent to the diverting surface, directed transversely to the feed direction of the web along the same direction as the direction along which the two lateral portions are transversely folded by the diverting surface and defining between the latter and the web a laminar fluid bed.
Abstract:

An absorbent sanitary article that includes a permeable inner layer, an impermeable outer layer, an absorbent pad interposed between the permeable inner layer and the impermeable outer layer; the pad includes a first layer of non-woven fabric, a second layer of non-woven fabric partly joined to the first layer of non-woven fabric, an absorbent core interposed between the first and second layers of non-woven fabric, a plurality of seals between the first layer of non-woven fabric and the second layer of non-woven fabric defining in the absorbent pad a plurality of cells; the absorbent core includes a first absorbent material and a second absorbent material divided in the cells; the cells comprise at least a first cell containing the second absorbent material together with the first absorbent material.
Abstract:
A method for making absorbent sanitary articles, each comprising a first discrete element and a second discrete element, comprises: feeding a succession of first discrete elements along a first feed path; feeding a succession of second discrete elements along a second feed path; applying each first discrete element of the succession of first discrete elements on a support web having a longitudinal axis and movable in a feed direction along a third feed path, the first discrete elements being applied on the support web at a first applicator station; applying each second discrete element of the succession of second discrete elements on the support web at a second applicator station located downstream of the first applicator station in the feed direction of the support web; the method comprises adjusting a length of the third feed path between the first applicator station and the second applicator station, so that each second discrete element is applied on the support web at a predefined position relative to a respective first discrete element.
Abstract:
A method for making a composite web comprises the steps of
melt blowing a first flow of thermoplastic material including said first thermoplastic material towards at least one collecting suction surface moving in a feed direction; dispensing a flow of particulate material including a particulate material towards the collecting suction surface in such a way as to intercept the first flow of thermoplastic material in an intercept zone; the first flow of thermoplastic material and the flow of particulate material intercept each other in the intercept zone at an intercept angle of between 1 and 90 sexagesimal degrees, preferably between 15 and 40 sexagesimal degrees.
Abstract:
A composite web including a first continuous web having a first face and a second face; the first web includes a molded portion having at least one protrusion, at least partly delimited by a base portion, on the first face; the composite web includes a segment of a second continuous web joined to the second face of the first web at least at the base portion.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for depositing discrete elements on a support element. The discrete elements may be separated from each other or joined to form a continuous web. The discrete elements are fed into a pick-up station defined at a rotor which includes circumferentially adjacent pick-up members. Each discrete element is associated with a respective pick-up member having a first orientation with respect to a respective second axis of rotation. Each pick-up member is moved along the rotation direction towards a release position downstream with an at least partially accelerated or decelerated motion. Each pick-up member is rotated about the respective second axis of rotation until it takes, at the release position, a second orientation. Each discrete element is released on a support element at the release position. Each pick-up member is subsequently moved towards the pick-up station with an at least partially decelerated or accelerated motion.
