Abstract: Embodiments of the invention describe a system to efficiently execute gesture recognition algorithms. Embodiments of the invention describe a power efficient staged gesture recognition pipeline including multimodal interaction detection, context based optimized recognition, and context based optimized training and continuous learning. Embodiments of the invention further describe a system to accommodate many types of algorithms depending on the type of gesture that is needed in any particular situation. Examples of recognition algorithms include but are not limited to, HMM for complex dynamic gestures (e.g. write a number in the air), Decision Trees (DT) for static poses, peak detection for coarse shake/whack gestures or inertial methods (INS) for pitch/roll detection.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for computer vision and sensor assisted contamination tracking are described herein. It may be identified that a food item has moved to a monitored area using computer vision. Sensor readings may be obtained from a sensor array. A contamination of the food item may be determined using the sensor readings. The contamination of the food item may be associated with a contamination area in the monitored area using the computer vision. A notification may be output for display in the contamination area indicating the contamination.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods for technology that provides smart work spaces in ubiquitous computing environments. The technology may determine a task to be performed in a smart work space and perform task modeling, wherein the task modeling includes determining one or more user interfaces involved with the task. One or more placements may be determined for the one or more user interfaces based on one or more ergonomic conditions, an incidence of an interaction, and a length of time of interaction. The technology may position the one or more user interfaces into the smart work space in accordance with the determined one or more placements.

Abstract: A system and method for real-time alteration of media content based on stress monitoring is disclosed. A computer system present a single media content item in two distinct content streams to a first and second user. Using sensor generated data the computer system measures at least one user response indicator for the first and second user and estimates a stress level for the first and second users. The computer system determines whether the estimated stress level for the first user exceeds a first predetermined stress threshold. In accordance with a determination that the estimated stress level for the first user exceeds a first predetermined stress threshold the computer system alters the first stream of the presented media content item to modify the particular portion of the media content item associated with the estimated stress level for the first user.

Abstract: Computer systems to allow users to record sensor readings of their environment and correlate these sensor readings with mental health events for later analysis to improve mental health diagnoses and treatments. A monitoring system comprising a computing device and a sensor set (comprising one or more sensors integral to or communicatively coupled to the computing device) may collect and store data collected about the user. This data may be stored in the computing device, or may be stored in a cloud based data-storage service. This data may be annotated or correlated (either manually, or automatically) with mental health events of the user and used for later analysis.

Abstract: One or more sensors gather data, one or more processors analyze the data, and one or more indicators notify a user if the data represent an event that requires a response. One or more of the sensors and/or the indicators is a wearable device for wireless communication. Optionally, other components may be vehicle-mounted or deployed on-site. The components form an ad-hoc network enabling users to keep track of each other in challenging environments where traditional communication may be impossible, unreliable, or inadvisable. The sensors, processors, and indicators may be linked and activated manually or they may be linked and activated automatically when they come within a threshold proximity or when a user does a triggering action, such as exiting a vehicle. The processors distinguish extremely urgent events requiring an immediate response from less-urgent events that can wait longer for response, routing and timing the responses accordingly.
