A management channel for enabling automatic access in the event that an indication is received that data network connectivity does not meet performance or configuration criteria, wherein the management channel enables automatic access to the cellular network device for administrative maintenance or reporting.

The invention further discloses a control circuit connected to both the licensed wireless communication signal processing circuitry and the unlicensed wireless communication signal processing circuitry, and a computer readable memory for directing the control circuit to function in a specified manner. This memory includes instructions to formulate a measurement report containing signal strength information that corresponds to the strength of a signal received through the unlicensed wireless communication signal processing circuitry. The measurement report also contains a request to transfer a wireless communication session from a licensed wireless system to an unlicensed wireless system. The memory further includes instructions to transmit the measurement report to the licensed wireless system through the licensed wireless communication signal processing circuitry.

    摘要： A method of integrating a licensed wireless system and an unlicensed wireless system includes establishing a communication session through a landline. The communication session is linked to a subscriber device through an unlicensed wireless system servicing an unlicensed wireless system service area. An indication is received that the subscriber device is moving from the unlicensed wireless system service area into a licensed wireless system service area. Without disrupting the communication session, the communication session is automatically transitioned from the unlicensed wireless system to a licensed wireless system servicing the licensed wireless system service area. Similarly, a call initiated on the licensed wireless system is automatically transitioned to the unlicensed wireless system when the subscriber device enters the unlicensed wireless system service area.
