摘要： Cases are accumulated in end-to-end relationship on a continuously driven infeed conveyor and stop means is provided adjacent the downstream end to selectively advance several cases in a group onto a pusher conveyor of the endless chain type. A lift table at the downstream end of the pusher conveyor raises these cases upwardly at a packing station where they are loaded with slugs of articles appropriately segregated for being dropped into the upwardly open packing cases in accordance with conventional practice. The packer accommodates the cases in each group in indexed relationship to one another and means is provided for so indexing the end-to-end cases. The endless pusher conveyor is spaced downwardly of the level of the cases on the infeed conveyor such that the second case in a group of two cases is received in a canted configuration with its leading edge supported on the top of the pusher associated with the first case. Fixed case camming means engages the outwardly projecting top flaps of the cases to urge or strip each of the cases rearwardly into its associated pusher before these cases are advanced to position for being lifted at the packing station. A pusher backup means is associated with the pusher conveyor chains to cause the pushers to be reversed in direction as the cases are being raised at the packing station in order to prevent interference when these cases are again returned to the pusher conveyor in order to be ejected from the packing station.

摘要： A packaging machine includes a grouper section having changeable lane sizes and a dual servo grouper that separates product into product sets and allow the product sets to accelerate to the lane chain speed in a controlled manner. The grouper section further includes disappearing lugs that pivot into the lanes via a cam surface provided in the lanes. The product rides upon a raised surface of the cam surface as the lug pushes the product set together down the lane, thus ensuring that no gaps are provided between product set members. A gripper/grid section of the packaging machine includes a bars that travel about a carousel with a gripper head assembly and a grid assembly pair moving up and down the bars as defined by cam surfaces within the gripper/grid section. The grid section is presented below the product set such that the product set is fed through the grid section in a one-way trip into a case. The gripper head assembly cam device and the case feed section both include height adjustment assemblies.

摘要： An inline packaging machine for folding the flaps of a paper board tray blank around a group of articles loaded on the bottom panel of the tray has provision for emergency shut-down whereby any glue applied to the side flaps of the tray will not set before the tray is completely formed. Moveable side flap folding means is provided at the glue station itself for this purpose. The said emergency flap folding means also serves to support the tray end flaps during gluing. The compression section of the machine that normally applies pressure to the glued flaps includes an inlet portion that is re-configured during emergency shut-down for the same purpose, that is to assure that the flaps are completely folded as the glue sets. The glue station and compression section are mounted on beams that are movable toward and away from one another to accommodate trays of various width.

摘要： Plastic bottles filled with hot liquid such as fruit juices or the like are packaged in cases fed in line below the path of these bottles in the machine. Line pressure urges the bottles down an inclined ramp into a load station where the plastic trays are continuously filled with the bottles. The trays are indexed by a flight bar conveyor that lifts each tray turn at the load station. Overhead flight bar conveyor chains operate separator pegs that move downwardly between selected article rows to index groups of the softened hot bottles as they are loaded into the inline trays. Overhead separator discs are used in place of these flight bars and pegs for loading conventional plastic bottles or the like.

摘要： A finger assembly includes a holder supported in depending position on a horizontal rail in the case loader. Fingers extend downwardly and outwardly from the holder and are resiliently clamped therein by a retaining member. An elongated fastener extends upwardly through the retaining member and has its upper end secured in the holder. The retaining member is spring biased upwardly against inturned fulcrum defining portions of each finger and said retaining member cooperates with a downwardly open cavity in the holder to define a plurality of finger sockets therebetween. The fingers are held for limited movement toward and away from centered positions associated with pockets defined in the case loader for the articles being loaded, and each finger is also adapted for limited lateral movement in its associated socket, at least when the finger is not in its centered position in a pocket. Two retaining member versions are disclosed, one with an axially symmetrical retaining member, and another with a four sided retainer to avoid the need for a depending skirt on the holder. These retaining members can be used with four fingers per pocket or article passageway, and with two fingers per pocket to reduce the number of holders and retainers (as well as the number of fingers) in a case loader capable of handling a given number of articles in a charge or slug.
