摘要: The invention concerns a method (200) and a system (100) for charging a battery (112). The method includes the steps of determining (214) a charge termination point for the battery, in which the charge termination point produces a charge on the battery that is less than an initial maximum charging capacity of the battery, and charging (224) the battery using the charge termination point for at least a portion of the charge cycles of the battery. The method reduces at least in part the variation of battery capacity over the cycle life of the battery.

摘要: This invention includes a memory device having exactly three external terminals: a power external terminal; a ground or return external terminal; and a one-wire data communication external terminal. The memory is preferably employed in a rechargeable battery pack having exactly four terminals. The power external terminal is coupled to a battery terminal traditionally used for a thermistor. When a host device desires to read data from the memory, the host device closes a switch coupled between a power source and the thermistor battery terminal, thereby actuating the memory. The host then reads data by way of a communication channel established between a microprocessor in the host device and the data communication external terminal of the memory.

摘要: A battery (302) provides both charging and discharging capability with a minimal number of terminals (304, 318, 306). A triac (310) is included within the charge path of the battery (302) to provide both discharge and charge capability. Charging system (300) provides charging and discharging control (332) so that current can be either charged to or drained from the battery (302) through the triac (310). Battery temperature and battery capacity are monitored through a single battery characteristic indicator terminal (318) which also serves as the bias for turning on the triac (310).

摘要: A battery charging system (200) comprises a battery (206) and charger (202). Battery 206 includes a thermistor (112) for determining the temperature of battery (206) and a resistor (214), for informing charger (202) of the current capacity of battery (206). Charger (202) includes a transistor (220) for effectively switching between measuring thermistor (112) and resistor (214) at charger input terminal (240). This effectively reduces the number of battery and charger contacts required as compared to the prior art.

摘要: A charger (302) determines the voltage baseline of a battery (306) and establishes a voltage range based on the voltage baseline of battery (306). Once the rapid charge rate has terminated and the trickle charge rate commenced, charger (302) monitors the voltage of the battery in order to make sure the battery is not being depleted. If the battery voltage is above the established range, the trickle charge rate is decreased, and if the battery voltage is below the voltage range, the trickle charge rate is increased.

摘要: A battery charger (230) is provided for charging a battery (210) at high temperatures. The charger (230) includes a thermistor (236) for monitoring the ambient temperature and a rapid charger (232) for providing the charge current to the battery. When the ambient temperature exceeds a high threshold temperature and when the battery (210) needs to be charged at this temperature, the battery charger (230) rapid charges the battery until the battery temperature reaches a cut-off temperature. The cut-off temperature is a temperature having a fixed level above the ambient temperature.

摘要: Systems and methods to detect particular levels of remaining battery capacities. A ratio of changes in battery output voltage over changes in battery capacity (ΔV/ΔC) is calculated. Detected rises in the value of this ratio are used to detect that a battery has a remaining capacity level that is near depletion. In a certain temperature range, the ΔV/ΔC ratio is used to provide an indication that the battery is approaching a low remaining capacity state. In another temperature range, an increase in the ΔV/ΔC ratio indicates that the battery has reached a mid-range remaining capacity level.

摘要: An apparatus and a method in a wireless device provide for reestablishing a dropped call, wherein a wireless device determines a wireless device callback priority, wherein the wireless device callback priority is relative to a second communication device callback priority associated with a second communication device, wherein the wireless device and the second communication device are established in a communication session. A dropped call between the wireless device and the second communication device is detected. In response to detecting the dropped call, and the wireless device callback priority being higher than the second communication device callback priority, the wireless device calls back the second communication device. If, during the calling back, a match between a callback identifier and an incoming caller identifier of an incoming call is detected, the calling back is terminated, and the incoming call is answered.
