Abstract: An evaporative bridge dressing that may be used with negative-pressure treatment of tissue. The evaporative bridge dressing may have one or more fluid transfer layers comprised of high-density wicking material enclosed between layers of film having high moisture-vapor transfer rates to manage liquid storage and pressure drop. The evaporative bridge may have an absorbent in some embodiments. An evaporation channel may be disposed adjacent to or combined with the evaporative bridge. A means for measuring pressure across the evaporative bridge may include a feedback path. A support means may reduce or prevent collapse of one or more of the evaporative bridge, the evaporation channel, the feedback path.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure and/or instillation fluids to a tissue site are disclosed. Some embodiments are illustrative of an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure and/or therapeutic solution of fluids to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with sensing properties of fluids extracted from a tissue site and/or instilled at a tissue site. For example, an apparatus may comprise a dressing interface or connector that includes a pH sensor, a humidity sensor, a temperature sensor and/or a pressure sensor embodied on a single pad within the connector and proximate the tissue site to provide data indicative of acidity, humidity, temperature and pressure. Such apparatus may further comprise algorithms for processing such data for detecting leakage and blockage as well as providing information relating to the progression of healing of wounds at the tissue site. An illustrative method may comprise positioning a dressing interface having a pH sensor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, and a pressure sensor at a tissue site, and applying reduced pressure to the dressing interface to draw fluids from the tissue interface in contact with the sensors to sense the pH, temperature, humidity, and pressure properties of the fluids flowing from the tissue site. The method may further comprise providing fluid data indicative of such properties to a control device for processing the fluid data and transmitting the data to another component in the system.

Abstract: This disclosure includes wound dressings (18) and systems (10) with therapeutic gas and negative pressure sources for incision management. The dressing, which are configured to be coupled to tissue to facilitate delivery of oxygen to the tissue, comprise a manifold configured to permit communication of oxygen to the tissue the manifold (46) defining: a plurality of gas passageways (50); and a plurality of openings (62), one or more of which comprises a length (66) and a width (70) that is at least 50 percent less than the length; and a gas-occlusive layer (86) configured to be disposed over the manifold and coupled to the tissue such that an interior volume containing the manifold is defined between the gas-occlusive layer and the tissue and the gas-occlusive layer limits escape of oxygen from the interior volume.

Abstract: An apparatus for treating a tissue site includes a dressing, an oxygen source, a valve, and a negative-pressure source. The dressing is configured to be sealed around the tissue site. The oxygen source is fluidly coupled to the dressing and configured to provide a low flow of oxygen. A first port of the valve is fluidly coupled to the dressing and the valve moves between a closed position preventing flow through the valve and an open position permitting flow through the valve. The negative-pressure source is fluidly coupled to a second port of the valve and provides negative pressure to the second port of the valve at a non-therapeutic level. The valve separates the negative-pressure source from the dressing and selectively opens when a positive pressure is applied on an upstream side of the valve.

Abstract: This disclosure includes wound dressings and systems with remote oxygen generation for topical wound therapy and related methods. Some systems include a dressing for facilitating delivery of oxygen to the target tissue, the dressing having: a first manifold that defines a plurality of gas passageways and is configured to allow communication of oxygen to the target tissue; a gas-occlusive layer configured to be disposed over the first manifold and coupled to tissue surrounding the target tissue such that: an interior volume is defined between the gas-occlusive layer and the target tissue; and the gas-occlusive layer limits escape of oxygen from the interior volume between the gas-occlusive layer and the tissue surrounding the target tissue; a container outside the interior volume, the container having a sidewall that defines a chamber configured to be in fluid communication with the interior volume; and an oxygen-generating material disposed within the chamber of container and configured to release oxygen when exposed to water.
