Abstract: A TEM resonator system includes at least two TEM resonators, especially in the form of TEM volume coils, and especially for use in an MR imaging system or apparatus for transmitting RF excitation signals and/or for receiving MR signals into/from an examination object or a part thereof, respectively. The TEM resonators are arranged and displaced along a common longitudinal axis, and an intermediate RF shield is positioned in longitudinal direction between the two TEM resonators for at least substantially preventing electromagnetic radiation from emanating from between the first TEM resonator and the second TEM resonator into the surroundings.

Abstract: The invention provides for a medical instrument (400, 500, 600, 700) comprising a magnetic resonance imaging system (404) and an external beam radiotherapy system (402) for irradiating a target zone (438) of a subject with a beam (442) of ionizing radiation within the imaging zone. The medical instrument further comprises a processor (448) for controlling the medical instrument. Execution of instructions cause the processor to: acquire (100, 200) first magnetic resonance data (458); reconstruct (102, 202) a first magnetic resonance image (460) from the first magnetic resonance data; receive (104, 204) planning data (462), wherein the planning data specifies a spatially dependent radiation dose for the target zone; register (106, 206) the planning data to the first magnetic resonance image; and calculate (108, 208) an external beam dosage plan (468) and a brachytherapy dosage plan (468) using the spatially dependent radiation dose and the first magnetic resonance image.

Abstract: The invention provides for magnetic resonance imaging system (600) comprising a superconducting magnet (100) with a first current lead (108) and a second current lead (110) for connecting to a current ramping system (624). The magnet further comprises a vacuum vessel (104) penetrated by the first current lead and the second current lead. The magnet further comprises a magnet circuit (106) within the vacuum vessel. The magnet circuit has a first magnet circuit connection (132) and a second magnet circuit connection (134). The magnet further comprises a first switch (120) between the first magnet connection and the first current lead and a second switch (122) between the second magnet connection and the second current lead. The magnet further comprises a first current shunt (128) connected across the first switch and a second current shunt (130) connected across the second switch. The magnet further comprises a first rigid coil loop (124) operable to actuate the first switch. The first rigid coil loop forms a portion of the first electrical connection. The magnet further comprises a second rigid coil loop (126) operable to actuate the second switch. The second rigid coil loop forms a portion of the second electrical connection.
