An image forming apparatus comprises: an attach/detach section to and from which a developing unit having an element into which information can be written and a developer containing section can be attached and detached; a photoconductor on which a latent image can be formed; a writing member for writing information into the element; and an AC voltage supply section for supplying an AC voltage. During a period from a start to an end of an image forming process, the writing member writes information into the element of the developing unit attached to the attach/detach section when the AC voltage supply section is not supplying an AC voltage.

When tab sheets are to be inserted in specified inserting positions while a plurality of documents are copied, the tab sheets are fed in such a manner that their tabs project backward with respect to their feed direction and has their transport direction reversed before being discharged so that their tabs project forward.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a memory having stored code data, code data input keys and a preheat changeover key for selectively switching the fixing device to a preheat mode or an operation ready mode, whereby the apparatus is permitted to operate when code data manually entered by the code data input keys are identical with code data previously stored in the memory. The image forming apparatus further includes entered code data release means responsive to operation of the preheat changeover key for switching the fixing device to the preheat mode, release entered code data whereby the apparatus is inhibited from operating. When the preheat key is pressed, the apparatus is switched to the preheat mode and, at the same time, the entered code data is released. Accordingly, the apparatus requires no dedicated button or key for releasing the entered code data, and may put, to practice use, the preheat changeover means which has been conventionally disposed.

    摘要: A display device in an image forming apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel. The display panel selectively displays two types of modes, that is, a normal mode and a special mode. In the normal mode, a copy volume, a copying magnification, a copy density and the like are displayed. In the special mode, the contents for setting edit copies, the contents for setting composite copies and the like are displayed. According to the present invention, the special mode is displayed during only a constant time period in a case where each of special mode setting keys is operated. In the other cases, the display mode is automatically switched to the normal mode. More specifically, the normal mode which a user desires to know is usually displayed on the display panel. Only when the user sets the special mode, the special mode is displayed in response to an operation of each of the special mode setting keys. Accordingly, the display device has good operability.

    摘要: This invention relates to an improved automatic document feeder which may be used, for example, on an image forming apparatus. The apparatus in accordance with the invention includes a final document detecting circuit which detects whether a document sent from an original setting device onto an original mounting device is the final document of a set. A normal end detecting device detects whether all of the image forming steps have been completed normally as to the final document of the set. A controlling device moves the final document to be discharged outside of the automatic document feeder after all of the image forming steps have been finished normally on the final document. The controlling device is activated based on signals from the final document detecting device and the normal end detecting device. The control circuit allows documents other than the final document to be moved outside of the image forming device before all of the image forming steps have been completed normally.
