    摘要: First and second laser beam sources generate first and second laser beams of different wavelengths, respectively. A first collimating lens diverges the first laser beam at a predetermined angle so as to permit a fracture surface aberration of the first laser beam to fall below a predetermined value when the first laser beam generated from the first laser beam source is collected on the signal layer of the optical disk. A light receiving lens collects the laser beam reflected from the signal layer of the optical disk on a photo diode in the form of an optical spot of a predetermined size. A holographic lens has a pattern by which the first laser beam is converted into parallel rays so that the size of a spot of the first laser beam becomes identical with the size of a spot of the second laser beam as projected on the detecting section. The pattern of the holographic lens has a concentric annular concave-convex portion in which a plurality of annular prominences and depressions are arranged, and the depression and the prominence have a width which is gradually decreased from a center toward a most outer circumference of the concentric annular concave-convex portion. Further, an inner surface of each prominence has a step-like shape formed with at least one step. Preferably, the number of the step ranges from three to five. Accordingly, diameters of the optical spots of the two laser beams of different wavelengths are almost identical when the laser beams are transmitted through the holographic lens so that the optical spots are formed on the photo diode. As a result, with one objective lens and photo diode, information of two types of optical disks for laser beams of different wave lengths can be reproduced.

    摘要: A method of and a circuit for providing a playback signal, which is compensated for time delay, from a photodetector having a plurality of outputs. A time difference between a first signal corresponding to a part of the outputs of the photodetector and a second signal corresponding to another part of the outputs of the photodetector is detected and one of the first and second signals is temporally shifted to compensate for a time delay between different outputs of the photodetector. The temporally shifted signal is summed with the other signal to provide a playback signal. Accordingly, the time delay between the outputs of the photodetector is compensated, thereby increasing the degree of modulation of the data playback signal. In addition, distortion or degradation of the signal is suppressed and occurrence of errors in the playback signal is minimized, thereby improving the reliability of the playback signal.

    摘要: An error signal detection method and apparatus for an optical recording/reproducing system. The error signal detection method includes: (a) detecting light incident through an objective lens after having been reflected and diffracted from a recording medium, as eight light portions arranged in a 2×4 matrix, including four inner light portions, and four outer light portions around the corresponding inner light portions, wherein the rows and columns of the matrix are parallel to the tangential and radial direction of the recording medium, respectively; (b) calculating a first sum signal by summing a detection signal from at least one outer light portion located in a first diagonal direction, and a detection signal from an inner light portion located in a second diagonal direction; (c) calculating second sum signal by summing a detection signal from an inner light portion located in the first diagonal direction, and a detection signal from an outer light portion located in the second diagonal direction; and (d) comparing phases of the first and second sum signals and outputting a phase comparison signal, wherein a tilt error signal is detected from the phase comparison signal. The tilt error signal detected using the method by the error signal detection apparatus has a high signal-to-noise ratio, and is less affected by detracting.

    摘要: An error signal detecting apparatus for an optical recording/reproducing apparatus, the error signal detecting apparatus including a photodetector to receive light reflected and diffracted by a recording medium, and a signal processor to detect an error signal by calculating a detection signal of the photodetector. The photodetector includes a plurality of light receiving areas to independently receive light of a light area in which the profile of the light changes to the opposite profile according to the tangential tilt of the recording medium. The signal processor detects a tangential tilt error signal from detection signals of the light receiving areas. Thus, a signal output from the error signal detecting apparatus does not change when a shift is generated in the objective lens or the distance between the objective lens and the disc is deviated from the on-focus position. Also, a change in the profile of the light beam according to a relative tangential tilt with respect to the objective lens of a recording medium in land/groove format can be properly detected so that an accurate tangential tilt error signal can be detected.
