Abstract:
A dispensing system for patching an untextured portion of a destination surface to substantially match an existing structure of an existing sprayed on texture pattern on the destination surface surrounding the untextured portion. The dispensing system comprises a container, a sponge member, and a scraper member. Texture material is arranged within the container. The sponge member defines an applicator surface and a sponge opening. The sponge member is secured to the container to such that the container opening and sponge opening are substantially aligned. The scraper member is detachably attached to the container.
Abstract:
An aerosol system for dispensing texture material on a horizontal surface comprising an aerosol assembly, an actuator member, and an outlet structure. The aerosol assembly, which is adapted to contain and dispense texture material, defines a container axis that is substantially vertical during normal use. The actuator member comprises a valve stem for engaging the aerosol assembly and defines a first portion of a dispensing path. The outlet structure defines a second portion of the dispensing path, an outlet orifice, and a dispensing axis. The outlet structure is arranged adjacent to the actuator member such that fluid flowing along the first portion of the dispensing path flows through the second portion of the dispensing path and the outlet orifice and generally along the dispensing axis. The dispensing axis is substantially aligned with the container axis. A cross-sectional area of the outlet orifice is adjustable.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a dispensing apparatus for dispensing a multi-component composition such as an oral care composition. The apparatus comprises a plurality of compartments, each containing a respective component of an composition, an orifice communicating with the plurality of compartments, and a common electrical drive mechanism for simultaneously dispensing the respective components from the plurality of compartments through the orifice. The electrical drive mechanism may comprise a single motor. Each compartment may include a respective piston for extruding a respective component of the composition from the apparatus, the pistons of the plurality of compartments being driven by a common gear mechanism coupled to the motor.
Abstract:
A system for applying a coating to an untextured portion of a destination surface comprises a tube member defining a container opening, texture material within the tube member, a sponge member defining an applicator surface and a sponge opening. The texture material comprises a binder and visually perceivable discrete particles. The sponge member is secured to the tube member such that the texture material can flow out of the tube member through the sponge opening. The texture material is displaced out of the tube member and onto the applicator surface. The applicator surface of the sponge member is displaced substantially along a dispensing axis perpendicular to the applicator surface towards and away from the destination surface with the applicator surface substantially parallel to the destination surface to transfer the texture material to the destination surface.
Abstract:
A method of applying texture material to a surface. A block of chip material is provided. A physical structure of the chip material is not substantially altered when the chip material is exposed to a propellant material. The block of chip material is processed to obtain chips, and the chips are combined with a coating portion to obtain acoustic texture material. Propellant material is arranged within the product chamber such that a liquid phase portion of the propellant material is mixed with the acoustic texture material, and a gas phase portion of the propellant material pressurizes the acoustic texture material within the product chamber. The chip material may be urethane, in which case the propellant material may be di-methyl ethylene.
Abstract:
An aerosol texturing system for applying a layer of texture material on an uncoated portion of a substrate substantially to match a coated portion of the substrate. The aerosol texturing system comprises an aerosol assembly, texture material, and bi-phase propellant material. The texture material comprises a base portion and a particulate portion, where the particulate portion is made of at least one of urethane foam and melamine foam. The propellant material acts on the texture material to force the texture material out of the aerosol assembly onto the uncoated portion of the substrate such that the layer of texture material on the uncoated portion of the substrate substantially matches the portion of the substrate coated with stucco material.
Abstract:
A dispensing assembly for an aerosol system for dispensing liquid material. The dispensing assembly comprises a base member defining an alignment groove, an actuator member defining a plurality of finger portions, an outlet member defining an outlet opening, a selector member defining a flange portion and a selector threaded portion, and a collar member defining an opening surface and a collar threaded portion. The outlet member is arranged within the plurality of finger portions such that the actuator member and the outlet member define a dispensing path in fluid communication with the outlet opening. The collar member engages the actuator member such that the opening surface is adjacent to the finger portions. The selector threaded portion engages the collar threaded portion. The flange portion of the selector is arranged within at least a portion of the alignment groove. Angular rotation of the selector member relative to the collar member displaces the collar member to deform the outlet member and thus alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.
