    摘要: A mobile device, e.g. a remote control, that communicates with a remote device. The device is controlled by a battery providing power for electronic circuits and components contained within the hand held remote control device. A battery monitoring device measures the voltage of the battery. A memory device saves the data generated by the battery monitoring device indicating the voltage of the battery. A transmission device transmits a notification to the display device when the voltage of the battery decreases to some predetermined level. The display device may receive the notification of a low battery from the hand held device. An application contained within the display device or the remote control displays a visual indication on the display device to the user indicating that the battery in the hand held device is low and requires recharging.

    摘要: Client adapter and method simplify security deployment in an EPN, including the shared services electrical power lines of a premises. With direct coupling, piggybacked adapter receives network signals and electrical from EPN-connected first adapter through a shared medium port. An authenticating adapter exchanges security management services and information with supplicant adapter. Two or more adapters may be piggybacked. Piggybacked adapters exchange security management service information without rogue intrusion. Exchanged information, stored, is later used to communicate securely. Defined adjacency (neighborhood) information can be exchanged, and a neighborhood established on an EPN, where one authorized neighbors securely communicate.

For example, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a network access point includes a processor adapted to control at least one function of the access point device and a memory coupled to the processor. The access point device further includes a receiver that processes global positioning system signals to determine an approximate location of the access point device.
