摘要: A tissue-removing catheter for removing tissue in a body lumen includes an elongate body having an axis, and proximal and distal end portions spaced apart from one another along the axis. The elongate body is sized and shaped to be received in the body lumen. A handle is mounted to the proximal end portion of the elongate body. The handle includes a housing enclosing components operable to cause rotation of the elongate body. A tissue- removing element is mounted on the distal end portion of the elongate body. An inner liner is received within the elongate body and defines a guidewire lumen. An advancer is mounted on the handle and is movable relative to the housing. A guide tube is mounted in the handle and is coupled to the advancer such that movement of the advancer relative to the housing causes movement of the guide tube.

摘要: A tissue-removing catheter for removing tissue in a body lumen includes an elongate body and a tissue-removing element mounted on a distal end portion of the elongate body. The tissue-removing element is configured to remove the tissue as the tissue-removing element is rotated by the elongate body within the body lumen. An inner liner is received within the elongate body. The inner liner defines a guidewire lumen. The inner liner isolates an interior of the guidewire lumen from the elongate body and tissue-removing element such that rotational forces are not transferred from the elongate body and tissue-removing element to the interior of the guidewire lumen when the elongate body and tissue-removing element are rotated during removal of tissue from the body lumen.

摘要: A method of removing tissue in a body lumen includes advancing a tissue-removing catheter over a guidewire in the body lumen to position a distal end of the catheter adjacent the tissue and a proximal end portion of the catheter outside of the body lumen. The catheter includes an elongate body, a tissue removing element mounted on a distal end portion of the elongate body, and an inner liner disposed within the elongate body. The inner liner defines a guidewire lumen in which the guidewire is disposed during the advancement of the catheter. The method further includes rotating the elongate body and tissue-removing element of the catheter to remove the tissue. Detecting wear of the inner liner caused by the elongate body contacting the inner liner during use.

A tissue-removing element is mounted on a distal end portion of the elongate body. A guidewire lumen extends through the elongate body from a distal end of the catheter to an intermediate location on the catheter spaced distally from the proximal end portion of the catheter. The guidewire lumen is configured to receive a guidewire such the catheter can be removed from the body lumen by pulling the catheter along the guidewire without removing the guidewire from the body lumen.

摘要: An example medical device includes a balloon that is inflatable to an inflated configuration. The balloon includes a non-compliant layer coextruded on an inner layer, and an outer layer coextruded on the non-compliant layer. The non-compliant layer is configured to delaminate from the inner and the outer layers in the inflated configuration. The non-compliant layer may be configured to rupture in the inflated configuration. An example technique includes inflating the balloon to a predetermined pressure sufficient to rupture the non-compliant layer and insufficient to rupture both the inner and outer layers. The example technique further includes deflating the balloon, and introducing the balloon into a vasculature. Another example technique includes coextruding a non-compliant layer on an inner layer, coextruding an outer layer on the non-compliant layer, and forming a balloon from the inner layer, the non-compliant layer, and the outer layer.

摘要: A dilatation catheter includes a high-pressure balloon component comprising an inner balloon and an outer balloon. An interior of the inner balloon is in fluid communication with a lumen of the catheter for receiving inflation fluid therefrom. The outer balloon defines a separate interior within which the inner balloon is disposed. The outer balloon has a hole in a wall thereof for venting the interior of the outer balloon to ambient environment. Proximal necks of the inner and outer balloons are bonded to an outer shaft of the catheter and distal necks of the inner and outer balloons are bonded to an inner shaft of the catheter. In accordance with embodiments hereof, the interior of the outer balloon is not in fluid communication with the interior of the inner balloon, the lumen of the catheter or any other source of fluid from the catheter.

摘要: A balloon catheter including a catheter shaft, a balloon and a support assembly. The catheter shaft defines an internal shoulder and carries the balloon. The support assembly includes a first member and a second member. The second member defines opposing, leading and trailing ends, and is arranged over the first member such that the leading end is distal the trailing end. The leading end is free of direct physical attachment to the first member. The support assembly extends within a lumen of the catheter shaft and the leading end bears against the internal shoulder. A pushing force applied at a proximal region of the catheter shaft is transferred onto the internal shoulder via the support assembly. The support assembly is simple and inexpensive. Further, the leading end of the second member is transversely moveable relative to the first member, thereby minimizing possible kinking of the first member.

摘要: A tissue-removing catheter includes an elongate body having proximal and distal end portions and a motor fixed to the distal end portion of the elongate body. A tissue-removing element is mounted on the motor to be driven in rotation by the motor about a drive axis. In some embodiments, the tissue-removing element includes a receptacle that receives the motor therein. The tissue-removing element can include a distal tip that extends distally beyond the motor to define the distal end of the catheter. The motor can be controlled using an actuator located outside the body. And in some embodiments, use of the catheter involves adjusting the rotational speed of the tissue-removing element using the actuator.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for creating an artificial arteriovenous fistula between an artery and an adjacent vein are disclosed. Methods include utilizing a hollow spiral shunt that defines a fluid passageway between a proximal port and a distal port thereof. The spiral shunt is loaded within a delivery device that is transversely advanced through a wall of the artery. A piercing end of the spiral shunt is than exposed and the delivery device is rotated to pierce an opposing wall of the artery and a wall of the adjacent vein with the spiral shunt piercing end. Rotation of the delivery device corkscrews the spiral shunt through the walls of the artery and the vein in order to position the spiral shunt to fluidly connect the artery and vein. Once so positioned, the spiral shunt is released to be deployed between the artery and vein lumens thereby forming an artificial arteriovenous fistula therebetween.
