A photographic camera capable of switching the size of a photographic image includes a photographic image size information display device for displaying information on the size of a photographed image on a tongue portion of the film and/or a film cartridge in which the film is loaded. The photographic image size information display device includes a device for printing a printing type in accordance with the photographic image size, and a marking device for making a mark using a laser. Information on the photographic image size can be displayed automatically by this camera using these devices. As a result, no special inconvenience is given to a photographer, and the photographic image size can be reliably recognized in a processing laboratory.

A motor driven camera includes a plurality of motors for independently driving individual actuators of a camera such as film winder, shutter charger, a drive associated with a movable reflecting mirror and diaphragm driver. In addition, the camera includes a storage battery, a drive circuit for feeding the power from the battery to the plurality of motors, and a controller which controls the drive circuit. In accordance with the invention, a film winding rate or the rotational speed of a motor which performs a shutter charging operation or the speed of operation of the movable reflecting mirror or the voltage of the power supply is detected, and the plurality of motors are automatically switched between the concurrent drive and the sequential drive in accordance with the detected value. Subsequent to the switching, either drive to which the operation is switched is maintained.

A diaphragm apparatus is disclosed including a piezoelectric actuator of bimorph type. A drive circuit associated with the actuator applies a voltage corresponding to a diaphragm aperture which is calculated in accordance with a photometric value to the actuator to produce a displacement thereof, which is transmitted through a diaphragm operating member to open or close diaphragm blades so as to control a diaphragm aperture. The drive circuit applies a reset voltage which resets the diaphragm blades to a predetermined reset condition, to the piezoelectric actuator, and after the resetting operation, it applies a voltage corresponding to a given diaphragm aperture to the piezoelectric actuator.

A camera using a photographic film accommodated in a cartridge main body in the state that a cartridge is loaded into the camera, the film being pressed, when it is fed out to the outside of the cartridge, by being subjected to a load in a film width direction substantially at a given position in the cartridge, wherein the position of the cartridge is set with respect to the position of the photographing opening of the camera so that the portions of the photographic film subjected to the load in the cartridge are located in the vicinity of the interval between photographing frame of the film fed out. According to the above arrangement of the camera, even if the fed photographing film is subjected to the load, it can maintain good flatness at the portion thereof corresponding to the photographing opening and an out of focus condition due to increased film curvature can be prevented.
