Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that it is operating in a dual-subscription mode that includes a first subscription and a second subscription. In some cases, the UE may include an application that is requesting to establish a data connection in accordance with an access preference rule for the application. The UE may determine that the access preference rule lacks a match among policies of a first route selection policy associated with the first subscription (e.g., a default subscription). The UE may then evaluate a second route selection policy associated with the second subscription for a policy that matches the access preference rule based on determining the lack of the match among policies of the first route selection policy. The UE may establish the data connection after evaluating the second route selection policy for the matching policy.

An exemplary method that may be performed by a wireless device generally includes iteratively determining a parameter, Madj, for construction of a polar code of size N for use in encoding K information bits, based on: at least two parameters, α and β, related to how many iterations to use in determining Madj, and a number of encoded bits, M; performing information adjustment allocation of the K information bits to an upper part and a lower part of the polar code based on Madj; and transmitting the upper part and the lower part of the polar code via a wireless medium.

Abstract: Wireless devices may use polar codes for encoding transmissions and may support combining transmissions to improve decoding reliability (e.g., by achieving chase combining and incremental redundancy (IR) gains). For example, an encoding device may puncture a set of mother code bits using different puncturing patterns to obtain different redundancy versions for a first transmission and a re-transmission. Each puncturing pattern may correspond to an equivalent decoding performance. In some cases, to obtain equivalent puncture sets, the encoding device may perform punctured index manipulation procedures on an initial puncturing pattern. A punctured index manipulation procedure may involve switching a binary state for a binary bit at a same binary bit index for each puncture index in a puncturing pattern. A device may receive the transmissions generated using the equivalent puncture sets and may combine the information for improved decoding reliability.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, devices (e.g., base stations, user equipment (UEs), etc.) may utilize polar coding along with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) techniques. In these systems, a device may encode bits for transmission by mapping information and parity check bits to a first set of polarized bit channels of a polar code. If this transmission is not successfully received at a decoding device, the encoding device may generate a HARQ retransmission. The device may copy information bits to a second set of polarized bit channels of a second polar code containing the first polar code and may assign parity check bits to the second set of bit channels for the copied information bits. These additional parity check bits for the repeated information bits may increase transmission reliability and may support improved early termination at the decoding device.

A transmitting device may receive one or more service data units (SDUs) at a layer two (L2) layer of the transmitting device. The transmitting device may encode, at the L2 layer, the one or more SDUs according to one or more network coding parameters to obtain at least one encoded protocol data unit (PDU), the one or more network coding parameters comprising a rateless code. The transmitting device may generate, for the at least one encoded PDU, at least one corresponding PDU header. The transmitting device may output the at least one encoded PDU and the at least one corresponding PDU header from the L2 layer to a lower layer of the transmitting device for transmission to one or more receiving devices.
