A portable, power-operated sabre saw having a power driven saw blade holder which is curved and which is mounted in the sabre saw housing for reciprocation along a curved path that is determined by its curvature to impart to a blade carried thereby a component of cutting stroke travel that is in the direction in which the blade is urged against a workpiece to cut the workpiece. Another feature disclosed herein is a counterweight which dynamically counterbalances the mass of the saw blade holder and the saw blade and which is recessed to receive a power driven gear that supplies the motion for reciprocating the holder and the counterweight. The counterweight is confined between and guided for reciprocating motion by opposed side wall regions of a longitudinally split housing, and a guide pin, which is trapped between the halves of the split housing, extends through a slot in one end of the counterweight to provide a further guide for the counterweight. Also disclosed herein is two-part bearing holder assembly in which a locating protuberance is formed on one part to transversely locate the second part, but which permits relative axial displacement of the second part to enable the second part to be axially positioned by engagement with a spherically contoured surface of a bearing that is clamped between the two bearing holder parts. The second part mounts a gear supporting idler shaft to ensure that the axis of the idler shaft is parallel with the axis of the bearing seat on the second part. Another feature disclosed herein is a sabre saw blade chuck assembly that so distributes operating forces developed during sawing as to reduce the likelihood of structure failure of the blade holder.

An inlet air filtration system for a gas turbine includes, in an exemplary embodiment, an air plenum, and a plurality of filter elements mounted inside the air plenum, with each filter element including a support structure. The inlet air filtration system also includes a plurality of electrodes positioned proximate the plurality of filter elements, where the electrodes are coupled to a power source which supplies a voltage to the electrodes. The voltage is sufficient to establish an electrostatic field between the electrodes and the filter elements, and is sufficient to produce a corona discharge from the electrodes, wherein an amount of current applied to the filter elements is about 0.1 μA/ft2 to about 15 μA/ft2.

The filtration system may include a fabric filter, which is cleaned with periodic pulse cleanings, a discharge electrode upstream of the fabric filter, which imparts an electric charge to at least some of the particulate matter before the particulate matter collects on the fabric filter, a sorbent, which is injected into the flue gas upstream of the fabric filter and absorbs at least some of the gaseous pollutant, and a fan, which draws the flue gas through the fabric filter. The filtration system may have a pulse cleaning interval setting that may be manipulated by an operator of the filtration system. The pulse cleaning interval setting may be the time between the pulse cleanings. The method may include the steps of: determining a cost of operating the filtration system at a first pulse cleaning interval setting; determining a cost of operating the filtration system at a second pulse cleaning interval setting; and comparing the cost of operating the filtration system at the first pulse cleaning interval setting with the cost of operating the filtration system at the second pulse cleaning interval.

A method for continuously removing mercury from a supply of combustion gas is provided. The method includes adjusting a power input to an electrostatic precipitator to control a quantity of fly ash emitted from the electrostatic precipitator. A turbulent flow of combustion gas is produced to suspend particulate matter including the quantity of fly ash contained in the supply of combustion gas. A substantial portion of the mercury is absorbed within the particulate matter including the quantity of fly ash. The supply of combustion gas is filtered to remove the particulate matter from the mercury. A quantity of absorption sites available for absorbing mercury is controlled by monitoring an emission of fly ash from the electrostatic precipitator.

The bumped structure is constructed and arranged for imparting friction between the housing and the sander body to increase a force required to swivel the housing about the sander body. A groove having a wall is defined in at least one of the housing and the sander body, and the bumped structure includes a plurality of protuberances along the wall of the groove. The housing includes a dust exhaust channel attached to a filter housing, and the filter housing includes a rigid, porous material having a pore size effective for entrapping dust which enters the filter housing.
