摘要: Techniques are described for synchronizing state information between a plurality of control units. A router, for example, is described that includes a primary control unit and a standby control unit. The primary control unit maintains router resources to ensure operation of the router. To ensure operation, the primary control unit receives state information from the router resources and maintains the state information for consumers, i.e. router resources that require or “consume” state information. Prior to updating the consumers with the state information, the primary control unit synchronizes the state information with the standby control unit. In the event the primary control unit fails, the standby control unit assumes control of the router resources. Upon assuming control, the standby control unit resumes updating the consumers with state information without having to “relearn” state information, e.g., by way of power cycling the router resources to a known state.

摘要: The present invention provides sustained release compositions that can be manufactured easily while providing long duration of the pharmaceutically useful protein being delivered. The compositions comprise insoluble complexes of the pharmaceutically useful protein and a precipitating agent at an appropriate ratio to achieve a desired sustained release profile. The precipitating agent can be selected from a group of various agents including divalent metal cations, Hofmeister series salts and pH adjusters. Particularly provided are compositions comprising insulin that are suitable for pulmonary delivery.

摘要: Methods and systems consistent with the present invention provide a Supernet, a private network constructed out of components from a public-network infrastructure. Supernet nodes can be located on virtually any device in the public network (e.g., the Internet), and both their communication and utilization of resources occur in a secure manner by providing for anonymous communications within the network through addressing. As a result, the users of a Supernet benefit from their network infrastructure being maintained for them as part of the public-network infrastructure, while the level of security they receive is similar to that of a private network. Additionally, the nodes of the Supernet are not geographically restricted in that they can be connected to the Supernet from virtually any portal to the Internet in the world.

摘要: A fabrication method to rapidly fabricate different prototypes of drug delivery systems, medical devices, pharmaceutical dosage forms, tissue scaffolds or other bioaffecting agents in small batches or individual forms using a computer-guided system to vary the composition and structure in order to optimize the product and the manufacturing process. The process is immediately scalable. An Expert System can be used with the method to recommend different compositions and designs of the prototypes, devices, dosage forms, tissue scaffold or other bioaffecting agents.

摘要: A software system that provides access control to resources and that disassociates access rights to resources from references to resources to prevent the formation of large and unwieldy access control lists and to enable advanced decentralized security controls. The software system includes a repository that holds a resource descriptor for each resource including lock/permission pairs. Access to particular resources or groups of resources is provided by providing users with the appropriate keys. The keys are themselves are resources with resource descriptors in the repository. Access rights for users may be revoked by deleting keys from the repository. The software system also provides visibility fields for compartmentalizing access to resources. In addition, the software system provides authorizers that maintain audit trails when critical resource such as keys are passed among users and that enable advanced security control when passing resources among users.

摘要: Disclosed herein are novel embodiments of progressive mobility aid devices. Such progressive mobility aid devices are designed to progress through a variety of configurations to accommodate the use of the progressive mobility aid device in a safe and secure manner as the user of the progressive mobility aid device traverses a variety of surfaces and terrain such as traversing irregular surfaces including sidewalks and stone-based surfaces; loose surfaces and terrain including gravel and sand; soft surfaces including wet ground and carpeted surfaces; and variable gradient surfaces including stairs and inclining or declining surfaces and terrain. The progressive mobility aid devices accommodate such uses with an articulating design that provides for front legs of the progressive mobility aid device to be pivotably adjusted with respect to the rear legs of the progressive mobility aid device, and with wheel assemblies that are selectively deployable and retractable.
