Tobacco suckers can very effectively be controlled by applying a composition comprising as the active ingredient at least one phosphorothionoamidate represented by the formula: ##SPC1##Wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; X is hydrogen, a halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and n is an integer of 1 to 3, around portions of tobacco at which suckers are to be developed or have slightly been developed.
