Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided. The method includes receiving, by at least one antenna of a receiver, at least one signal from a transceiver, detecting at least one data symbol within the at least one signal, determining a probability associated with the at least one detected data symbol, determining channel state information (CSI) of at least one channel between the transceiver and the at least one antenna of the receiver, and estimating a common phase error (CPE) of the at least one signal based on the probabilities associated with the at least one detected data symbol and the CSI of the at least one channel.

The apparatus includes a correlator; a buffer connected to the correlator, including a plurality of buffer components; a combiner array, including a plurality of combiners, wherein each of the plurality of combiners includes a plurality of buses, wherein each bus is connected to one buffer component corresponding to a synchronization signal block for each synchronization signal block; and a selector connected to each of the plurality of combiners, where the selector is configured to apply a pre-determined function to the plurality of combiners corresponding to the synchronization signal blocks, determine a maximum of applying the pre-determined function, and determine that a primary spreading sequence (PSS) is detected at a time corresponding to a time associated with the maximum of applying the pre-determined function.

Abstract: A system and method are provided in which an input including a measurement output of digital channel information is received. The digital channel information includes an estimated digital channel, a beamforming codebook, and quantized angle of arrival (AoA) values. A basis corresponding to one of the quantized AoA values is selected according to a largest projection power of the measurement output. A partial channel is recovered based on the beamforming codebook and the estimated digital channel. An analog channel is recovered based on the partial channel and the basis.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a processor configured to receive a synchronization signal (SS) and identify timing of the SS based on a primary spreading signal (PSS) in the SS, identify tentative secondary spreading signals (SSSs) based on the identified timing, and group the tentative SSSs; a register configured to receive the SS; and a memory configured to store the tentative SSSs for each group of the tentative SSSs; wherein the processor is further configured to cross correlate the tentative SSSs, combine cross correlated outputs with weights by group, determine an SSS as the tentative SSS with a maximum combined cross correlation outputs, and determine a cell identification based on the determined SSS.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and a method of deriving an optimal precoder, in which a precoder is derived using water filling power allocation, and then is multiplied with some unitary matrix satisfying certain conditions to meet a per layer power constraint. Abstract: A receiver circuit for separating a plurality of layers multiplexed in an orthogonal frequency domain multiplexed (OFDM) signal includes: a descrambling sub-circuit configured to descramble a plurality of signals received on non-adjacent subcarriers of the OFDM signal to generate a plurality of descrambled signals; an inverse fast Fourier transform sub-circuit configured to transform the descrambled signals from a frequency domain to a received signal including a plurality of samples in a time domain; and a layer separation sub-circuit configured to separate the layers multiplexed in the received signal by: defining a first time domain sampling window and a second time domain sampling window in accordance with a size of the inverse fast Fourier transform; extracting one or more first layers from the samples in the first time domain sampling window; and extracting one or more second layers from the samples in the second time domain sampling window.
