摘要: A method is proposed for investigation of or ascertaining pulse or heartbeat. The method first comprises directing illuminating radiation to illuminate a body part such as a finger. The illuminating radiation is of a wavelength or wavelength band substantially in the blue light region of the light spectrum. Then, an optical speckle pattern of the illuminated body part resulting from the illumination of the body part is obtained and imaged. The optical speckle pattern is representative of the heartbeat and by correlation of frames extracted from the speckle pattern, the pulse or beat extent of the body part may be ascertained.

摘要: A disc drive apparatus (1) for optical discs (2) comprises: a frame (3); a sledge (10) displaceably mounted with respect to said frame (3); a lens actuator (43, 21) displaceably mounted with respect to said sledge (10); and a control unit (90) for generating a control signal (SCL) for the lens actuator (43, 21). The control unit (90) is designed, during a jump operation, to generate said control signal (SCL) for the lens actuator (43, 21) on the basis of an actuator deviation signal (SAS) representing a difference between actuator position (XA) and sledge position (XS).

摘要: In order to create a record carrier having a side-channel which cannot be copied with a channel-bit recorder, the record carrier (1) has a modulated spiral. By modulating one or more of the spiral parameters, like the channel bit length or the track pitch, a side-channel is created. If a record carrier having such a side-channel is copied using a channel-bit recorder, the information present in the side-channel is lost. The number of bits to be stored in the modulated spiral can be selected as desired; also the way in which the bits are present can be selected; the bits can e.g. can be stored in different bands (A,B,C,D) present on the record carrier, in which band the spiral parameter modulated can be kept constant.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method of authenticating an individual (321) at an authenticating device (311) and an authenticating system for authenticating an individual. A basic idea of the present invention is to store, at a device or a system with which an individual wishes to authenticate herself, one or more data structures each comprising a value based on an identifier pertaining to the individual and an encrypted copy of the identifier. When the individual wants to authenticate herself, she contacts the authenticating device whereby a request is made to attain the encrypted identifier included in a specific data structure stored at the authenticating device. The individual subsequently provides proof to the authenticating device that she actually knows the identifier.

摘要: Authentication of a user to an electronic device in a communication network is described. The method comprises obtaining a biometric characteristic of the user, transmitting, to a social networking service, information that specifies at least one primary user ofthe device, receiving, from the social networking service, information that specifies a group of persons who have a social relationship with the at least one primary user, obtaining information that specifies a result from a biometric matching operation with the biometric characteristic of the user and biometric characteristics of persons in the specified group of persons, the result indicating whether or not the user is authenticated to the electronic device. By narrowingdown the size of the searching space-needed during a matching operation by utilizing information regarding a group of persons in a social network, the false acceptance rate is reduced and biometric authentication of a user to an electronic device is thereby facilitated, e.g. to accessdesired functionality of the device or access a desired service.
