摘要: Apparatuses and methods for defect replacement when an optical storage medium is read are provided. When the defect management is LOW, a pick-up head retrieves a set of data from the optical storage medium; a defect detector detects whether there is a defect in the set; if yes, a processor determines whether a replacement for the defect is in the set; and if yes, an interface transmits the replacement from the set. When the defect management is CRD, a buffer temporarily stores data retrieved from the optical storage medium; a defect detector detects whether there is a set of defects in the data; if yes, a comparator compares a length of the set of defects with a defect threshold length; a pick-up head reads more data from the optical storage medium continuously until the buffer reaches a buffer threshold if the length is compared shorter than the defect threshold length; and the pick-up head reads a set of replacements for the set of defects directly if the length is compared longer than the defect threshold length.

摘要: A method for defect management of a rewritable optical disc is provided. The rewritable optical disc has a data area comprises recording units for storing a target data and a replacement area comprising first replacement units for replacing defective recording units of the data area. First, a fragmented status of the target data is calculated, wherein the fragmented status reflects a dispersion level of the first replacement units in view of a distribution of the defective recording units. The fragmented status is then compared with a threshold value to determine whether to perform a defragment operation about the target data. Finally, the defragment operation about the target data is performed by rearranging the first replacement units in accordance with the sequence of the defective recording units.

摘要: A data managing method and optical disc drive capable of handling decoding errors of readback data retrieved from an optical disc. The data managing method includes providing a buffering pointer and a decoding pointer; utilizing the buffering pointer to indicate an address utilized for storing an un-decoded readback data; controlling the decoding pointer to indicate a starting address of a data block currently being decoded; and when a decoding error occurs during decoding a specific data sector in the data block, updating the buffering pointer to indicate that the address of the storage device utilized for storing the un-decoded readback data corresponds to the staring address indicated by the decoding pointer for re-retrieving an un-decoded readback data corresponding to the data block.

摘要: The settings related to form fields now are unable to be set dynamically according to attributes of a table. The settings related to form fields include length of form fields, validation rule of form filed (such as length of input character or whether the input character is a not null parameter, etc.), and presentation of form fields (such as check box or calendar time selection interface). The present invention uses result set metadata of a relational database to get the attributes. Thus a form interface includes form fields corresponding to the attributes. And the presentation of the form fields can be determined by the corresponding attribute parameters. Moreover, whether data format is correct is checked by a form validation program according to data user input into the form field. Thereby development workflow can be simplified and development time can be shortened for web developers and program designers.
