摘要: The invention provides a buffer management apparatus coupled between a memory and a plurality of circuit blocks accessing the memory. In one embodiment, the buffer management apparatus comprises an arbiter, a plurality of buffers, and a multiplexer. The arbiter selects a plurality of owners for the buffers from the circuit blocks, passes a plurality of access request signals generated by the owners to the corresponding buffers, and delivers a plurality of access response signals retrieved from the corresponding buffers to the owners in reply to the access request signals. The multiplexer alternately retrieves the access request signals from the buffers to generate a memory access signal delivered to a memory controller of the memory, receives a memory response signal generated by the memory controller in reply to the memory access signal, and distributes the memory response signal to the buffers as the access response signals.

摘要: A method for defect management of a rewritable optical disc is provided. The rewritable optical disc has a data area comprises recording units for storing a target data and a replacement area comprising first replacement units for replacing defective recording units of the data area. First, a fragmented status of the target data is calculated, wherein the fragmented status reflects a dispersion level of the first replacement units in view of a distribution of the defective recording units. The fragmented status is then compared with a threshold value to determine whether to perform a defragment operation about the target data. Finally, the defragment operation about the target data is performed by rearranging the first replacement units in accordance with the sequence of the defective recording units.

摘要: An optical storage device includes a pickup head, an input interface, a memory and a memory control unit. The pickup head is for reading a piece of data from a disk. The input interface has an input data processor, and the input data processor has a buffer for registering the piece of data. The memory has a number of blocks. The memory control unit includes a memory access device and a buffer valid access device. The memory access device is for reading the piece of data from the input data register and writing the piece of data into one of the blocks. The buffer valid check device is for checking whether a next written-in block is a valid block, When the next written-in block is the valid block, the buffer valid check device controls the memory access device to stop writing the piece of data into the next written-in block.

摘要: A method for defect management of a rewritable optical disc is provided.
