An input is received via the control, the input including an indication of a selection of a location in the texture strip, the location in the texture strip having a corresponding temporal location in the series of frames. Based on the input, a frame selected from the series of frames is displayed in the video display, the selected frame located at the corresponding temporal location in the series of frames.

The decoding method includes acquiring the describer, and identifying the combination of the base video steam and the enhanced video stream. The decoding method also includes generating base video information by decoding the base video stream, generating enhanced video information by decoding the enhanced video stream, generating decoded video information based on the base video stream and the enhanced video stream, and outputting the decoded video information.

摘要： Several ways are provided for a viewer of a movie to create a deep tag, that is, a bookmark for a segment of the movie. The deep tag can be associated with descriptive text and sent to an address provided by the viewer, either an e-mail address or an instant messaging address. Additionally, before the deep tag is created, it can be checked whether the content owner of the movie is known. If known, the content owner's rules, if any, regarding deep tagging are followed. If unknown, a set of registered content owners can be alerted of the presence of new content. When ownership of the new content is established, the already-created deep tags can be updated in accordance with the content owner's rules, if any, regarding deep tagging.

摘要： A distributed database management system provides a central database resident on a server that contains database objects. Objects, e.g., program guide data, to be replicated are gathered together into distribution packages called “slices,” that are transmitted to client devices. A slice is a subset of the central database which is relevant to clients within a specific domain, such as a geographic region, or under the footprint of a satellite transmitter. The viewer selects television programs and Web content from displayed sections of the program guide data which are recorded to a storage device. The program guide data are used to determine when to start and end recordings. Client devices periodically connect to the server using a phone line and upload information of interest which is combined with information uploaded from other client devices for statistical, operational, or viewing models.

摘要： A playback device is provided that includes a readout unit that reads out data recorded in a recording medium and a playback unit. Data including a digital stream file obtained by encoding video information is recorded in the recording medium. A recording region of the recording medium has a first recording region where reading is performed at a first read rate, and a second recording region where reading is performed at a second read rate that is faster than the first read rate. In a file system, the data is classified into the digital stream file having real-time attributes and a data file having non-real-time attributes, wherein the data file read in during playback of the digital stream file is recorded in the same recording region where the digital stream file being played is recorded. The readout unit reads out the data without changing the first or second read rate.
