摘要: A novel image forming apparatus which makes gray-scale by performing at least one of operations including a manipulation of a plurality of dots arranged in a form of matrix, a single-dot-based density adjustment, or a single-dot-based size adjustment, includes a dot status detector and a density adjuster. The dot status detector detects an occurrence in which a dot exists at a focus dot position and no dot exists at positions immediately adjacent to the focus dot position in the main scanning direction. The density adjuster adjusts a writing level of the dot at the focus dot position so as to make the gray-scale smooth when the dot status detector detects the occurrence.

摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting an empty condition of toner cartridges containing toner for copiers, fax machines, printers and the like is disclosed. The cartridges may be mounted to a rotary developing device. According to one embodiment, when a toner cartridge has been rotatably positioned to a developing position, an empty condition is detected by emitting light into the toner cartridge and detecting the light coming out of its bottom. To accomplish this detection, a light source and a light sensor are fixedly located near a bottom corner of the toner cartridge at the developing position. Light is emitted into the toner cartridge at a predetermined oblique angle with respect to a side wall of the toner cartridge. Light exits out from the bottom wall if a predetermined amount of toner does not exist in the toner cartridge. Due to the oblique angle, the distance between the light source and the light sensor is substantially reduced and provides an accurate measurement. This reduced distance also results in a smaller end detection system.

摘要: A printing device suitable for printing on a record medium for use in an overhead projector (OHP) prints at a density controlled as a function of the type of an OHP (transmission type of reflection type) in which the record medium will be used, and/or as a function of the distance from the OHP to the screen. The device can use a transfer printing type print head, in which case the density control can be achieved by means of amplitude or pulse width modulation of the electrical signal energizing the print head or by means of controlling the number or short energization pulses to be applied to the print head.

摘要: In a thermal or a thermal transfer printer using a thermal head which has heating elements arranged in one line in a main scanning direction, a thermal head drive system for printing out dots by multi-step modulation is disclosed. The heating elements are divided into an odd and an even dot groups and driven group by group on a time division basis. One line of data are recorded such that the odd dots and the even dots which neighbor each other in the main scanning direction are offset in a subscanning direction. When the elements which are next to a particular one of the elements are of the maximum drive level, they are driven at the same time. Further, those heating elements which are of the same level are driven at a time.

摘要: The velocity of a cage during a time interval from the start of deceleration to the stoppage of the cage is controlled by utilizing a velocity characteristic which changes depending upon the load condition or oil temperature of a hydraulic elevator, that is, a magnitude by which the velocity characteristic during the acceleration of the cage differs from a reference running characteristic. Thus, even when the load state or the oil temperature has changed, the operating period of time of the hydraulic elevator is shortened, so that a comfortable ride, energy saving, cost reduction etc. are attained.
