    摘要: An embodiment of the present invention provides a printer configured to print on a print medium. The printer includes a thermal head and a control unit. The thermal head has a plurality of heating elements that are arranged in a line. The control unit is configured to control thermal energy to be applied to the plurality of heating elements, in accordance with information based on image data. The information includes whether to apply a pulse of energizing current in each of a plurality of periods being preset during a scanning line time for one line. The plurality of periods is set in an order from a long period to a short period during the scanning line time.

    摘要: A model of a thermal print head is provided that models the thermal response of thermal print head elements to the provision of energy to the print head elements over time. The thermal print head model generates predictions of the temperature of each of the thermal print head elements at the beginning of each print head cycle based on: (1) the current ambient temperature of the thermal print head, (2) the thermal history of the print head, and (3) the energy history of the print head. The amount of energy to provide to each of the print head elements during a print head cycle to produce a spot having the desired density is calculated based on: (1) the desired density to be produced by the print head element during the print head cycle, and (2) the predicted temperature of the print head element at the beginning of the print head cycle.

    摘要: The present invention provides in a line thermal printer for producing different colors in a print medium according to a level of heat energy applied to the print medium: storage buffers B1 to B4 having a plurality of areas for storing a line of print pixel data according to the number of plural heating elements for forming print pixels; a control circuit for identifying whether the printer is set to a monochrome mode or a multicolor mode; a CPU 21 for storing to the storage buffers B1 to B4 the next line of print pixel data to be printed and one or a plurality of lines of print pixel data printed immediately before (when the printer is set to the monochrome mode), and storing to the storage buffers B1 to B4 at least a next line of print pixel data of each color to be printed when the printer is set to the multicolor mode; and a drive data generator 22, 23 for outputting data determining the drive time of each drive circuit of the heating elements based on data stored in the storage buffers. Thus the present invention can provide a line thermal printer capable of switching between monochrome and multicolor printers, and accomplishing high quality monochrome printing with consideration given to a printing history, and also printing in multiple colors.

Subsequently, an yellow ink is transferred to form yellow color dots of a first column. Every time after the ribbon cassette RC is moved by a pitch P1 each in the sub-scanning direction, the yellow ink is transferred to form dots of one column until dots of all columns in the length L2 of a line are formed.

    摘要: Dynamic division drive of a thermal printer is simplified to reduce the number of signal lines, and history control drive is made efficient to shorten time necessary for data transfer. The thermal size printer comprises a plurality of heating arrays for printing split up into blocks and arranged in a line, a plurality of driver units for driving a block of the heating arrays separately from other blocks, and a logic circuit for controlling the driver units. The logic circuit comprises a block specifying means for specifying one driver unit or two or more driver units to be operated according to block selection data BDAT inputted from the external. Only the specified driver units are all at once operated according to a single strobe signal DST inputted from the external. Further, the logic circuit comprises a data operation means for internally originating history data based on print data HDAT inputted from the external. Further, the logic circuit comprises a transfer control means for transferring the history data and the print data HDAT efficiently to each of the driver units to carry out history control drive of each of the heating arrays.
