摘要： An electrophotographic image forming apparatus is usable with a process cartridge having an electrophotographic photosensitive member. The apparatus includes a transfer member contactable to the photosensitive member to transfer a toner image from the photosensitive member thereonto, a tray carrying the cartridge and movable between a contact position where the photosensitive member contacts the transfer member and a spaced position spaced from the transfer member, a supporting member supporting the tray for movement parallel with a tangent line between the photosensitive member and the transfer member between a first position positioning the tray at the contact position and a second position retracted from the first position away from the transfer member in a perpendicular direction perpendicular to the photosensitive-member axial direction and to the tangent line to position the tray at the spaced position, and engageable and engaging portions engageable with each other. The engaging portion regulates tray movement.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus including a rotary member (15) to which a plurality of developing cartridges (B, Y, M, C) (16) are detachably mountable, a user can rotate the rotary member with an easy operation to access the plurality of developing cartridges. A pivotable unit (63) is contactable and separable from a driving train for the rotary member (15). By applying a certain braking force to a pivotal gear (69), the pivotal gear (69) is moved to a position at which the pivotal gear (69) is held in contact with the driving train by a user's operational force. In association with the contact movement of the pivotable unit (63), a solenoid (57) performing a positional control of the rotary member (15) is released.

摘要： An electrophotographic image forming apparatus detachably mounts a process cartridge including an electrophotographic photosensitive drum. The apparatus includes a frame, a door, and a tray carrying the cartridge. The tray is movable among a first position inside the frame when the door is closed and the drum forms a latent image, a second position when the door is open and the tray protrudes from the frame to permit cartridge mounting and demounting, and a third position between the first and second positions where the tray is movable to the first position with closing of the door. Also, a regulating member moves between a regulating position regulating movement of the door from an opening position to a position where the tray is beyond the third position, and a permitting position permitting movement of the door from the opening to the closing position when the tray is at the third position.

摘要： An n.sup.- silicon layer is epitaxially grown on an oxide film with predetermined openings disposed on one main face of an N.sup.+ silicon substrate to form single crystalline portions on the openings and polycrystalline portions on the oxide film. Ion implantation and thermal annealing is used to convert the polycrystalline portions to P.sup.+ external base regions and form P.sup.+ internal base regions in the single-crystalline portions. Arsenic ions are selectively implanted into the internal base regions to form n.sup.+ emitter regions. Then, base and emitter electrodes are formed on the external base and emitter regions to be electrically insulated from one another by an oxide film and a collector electrode is formed on the other main face of the substrate.

摘要： A belt unit used for an image forming apparatus is provided. The belt unit includes a rotatable endless belt, a plurality of stretching members configured to stretch the belt, an urging member, and a contact and separation unit configured to be able to switch a position of the stretching member urged by the urging member. In moving the stretching member urged by the urging member from the separation position to the contact position, the contact and separation unit makes one end side of the stretching member urged by the urging member in a longitudinal direction coming into contact with the inner surface of the belt faster than the other end side, and temporarily decreases the movement speeds of the both ends of the stretching member in the longitudinal direction respectively before arriving at the contact position.
