摘要: The image forming apparatus comprises: a print head including a plurality of nozzles which eject droplets of a radiation-curable ink onto a recording medium; a conveyance device which causes the print head and the recording medium to relatively move to each other in a relative conveyance direction of the recording medium by conveying at least one of the print head and the recording medium in a direction substantially perpendicular to a width direction of the recording medium; an irradiation device which irradiates a radiation to the droplets of the ink, the droplets having landed on the recording medium; and a control device which controls the irradiation device so that the radiation is irradiated to a first ink droplet while a second ink droplet is in flight, the first ink droplet having been previously ejected from one of the nozzles in the print head and having landed on the recording medium, the second ink droplet being ejected from the same one of the nozzles so as to overlap with or make contact with the first ink droplet on the recording medium.

摘要: The liquid droplet discharge head comprises: a plurality of nozzles which discharge liquid droplets onto a recording medium, wherein the nozzles are arranged two-dimensionally in a main scanning direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction in which the recording medium is conveyed relatively with respect to the liquid droplet discharge head, and a sub-scanning direction which coincides with the conveyance direction, in such a manner that: at least a portion of dots formed by the droplets deposited on the recording medium from the nozzles overlap mutually in the main scanning direction; and with respect to a first nozzle and a second nozzle which discharge droplets to form mutually adjacent dots in the main scanning direction on the recording medium, and with respect to a third nozzle which is adjacent to the first nozzle in the sub-scanning direction, positions of the first nozzle and the second nozzle are separated in the sub-scanning direction by at least a distance equal to a multiple by an integer that is at least two, of a distance between the first nozzle and the third nozzle in the sub-scanning direction, and positions of the first nozzle and the third nozzle are separated in the main scanning direction by at least a distance equal to a maximum dot diameter formed by the liquid droplets discharged onto the recording medium from the first nozzle and the third nozzle.

摘要: The image forming apparatus includes: a first group of large nozzles which eject large droplets of liquid for a color; a second group of small nozzles which eject small droplets of the liquid for the color, the small droplets having volume smaller than the large droplets; a dot data creation device which creates dot data according to input image data; a dot data correction device which corrects the dot data if there is an abnormal nozzle in one of the first and second groups, in such a manner that a corrective nozzle is selected from the other of the first and second groups, and droplet ejection performed by the corrective nozzle substitutes for droplet ejection that is originally to be performed by the abnormal nozzle; and a driving device which drives the large and small nozzles to eject the large and small droplets according to the corrected dot data.

摘要: The image forming method of ejecting liquid droplets containing coloring material toward a recording medium from nozzles including main nozzles and subsidiary nozzles of nozzle rows of a recording head while causing relative movement between the recording medium and the recording head in a relative movement direction that is substantially perpendicular to a direction of alignment of the nozzles of each of the nozzle rows in such a manner that an image is formed by the coloring material on a recording medium, wherein the nozzle rows include first and second nozzle rows which have the main nozzles corresponding to a same coloring material of a particular color and at least one subsidiary nozzle row which includes the subsidiary nozzles corresponding to the same coloring material of the particular color; the first and second nozzle rows and the at least one subsidiary nozzle row are respectively arranged at different positions in terms of the relative movement direction; the at least one subsidiary nozzle row is disposed between the first and second nozzle rows; the subsidiary nozzles are arranged in such a manner that positions of the subsidiary nozzles projected on a straight line in the direction of alignment of the nozzles of each of the nozzle rows are different from positions of the main nozzles projected on the straight line, includes: a measurement step of measuring an amount of inclination of the recording head with respect to the relative movement direction; a correction judgment step of judging whether or not correction is necessary according to the amount of inclination measured in the measurement step; and a correction step of canning out droplet ejection from at least a portion of the subsidiary nozzles, in place of droplet ejection from at least a portion of the main nozzles when judgment is made, in the correction judgment step, that the correction is necessary, in such a manner that the correction is carried out.
