摘要: Droplet ejectors having a plurality of droplet ejecting ports capable of ejecting ink droplets onto a recording medium and having a capping structure that alleviate debris contamination. The capping structure includes a plurality of openings, some of which allow ejected droplets to pass onto the recording medium. The capping structure is removably spaced above the remainder of the droplet ejector using spacers which mate with others openings in the capping structure.

摘要: A traveling wave droplet generator having a drop-on-demand mode of operation. An acoustic mechanism excites a line of peaks of ink just below threshold for ink drop ejection in the orifices of an ink chamber. Electrostatic means raises particular peaks above the threshold using an excitation that is synchronous with the acoustic wave, which gives rise to parametric coupling which enhances the efficiency of the ejection. The electrostatic field can be selectively established at each of the orifices by a conventional addressing mechanism.

摘要: A voltage is applied to a plurality of electromechanical transducers mounted on a plurality of nozzles, respectively, so that a meniscus may be formed at the nozzle tip. One or more opposing electrodes or rear transducers are disposed in opposed relationship with a predetermined number of nozzles, respectively, the number of the opposing electrodes or rear transducers being less than that of the nozzles. When one of the opposing electrodes or rear transducers which is in opposed relationship with the nozzle whose transducer is applied with a voltage is applied with a voltage, an ink drop is issued. The opposing electrodes are applied with a voltage in a time-division manner.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of printing a two-dimensional bit-mapped image having a number of pixels per row, the printhead having a row of ejection channels and each ejection channel having associated ejection electrodes to which voltages are applied in use. During printing, in order to cause volumes of fluid to be ejected from selected ejection channels of the printhead for printing, voltage pulses having values of predetermined amplitude and duration as determined by respective image pixel bit values generated by a raster image processor are applied, at a given pulse period, to the electrodes of the selected ejection channels. The part of the raster image corresponding to an ejection channel is scanned to determine the number of adjacent non-printing pixel periods prior to a pixel to be printed and, immediately prior to the printing of said pixel, a voltage pulse, having a value predetermined in accordance with the time, measured in units of the given pixel period, between the last pixel to be printed and said pixel to be printed, is applied to the ejection electrode.

摘要: A thermal electrostatic ink-jet recording apparatus includes an orifice for storing and jetting ink. The orifice is formed between first and second plate members and a longitudinal array of heating elements is formed on one of the plate members and is covered by an insulating layer. An electrically conductive layer is formed either on the insulating layer or the other plate member and cooperates with a counter electrode supporting a recording medium to apply an electrostatic field to ink in the orifice. The electrically conductive layer includes a central portion that extends substantially to the egress of the orifice in the area where ink is contained in the orifice and peripheral portions on either side of the orifice that are not in contact with the ink and that are spaced substantially away from the egress of the orifice. The spacing of the peripheral portion away from the egress of the orifice prevents a gas discharge phenomenon that induces instability in ink jetting.
