    摘要: A connector is provided to increase the strength for stopping a forward movement of a terminal fitting. The connector has a housing 11 with a cavity 12. A locking portion 18 is disposed in the cavity 12. Opposite side surfaces of a portion of a locking portion 18 more toward the leading end thereof than a locking projection 19 are cut off to form cut surfaces 21. Contact portions 23 projecting inward are formed continuously with a front wall 13 in areas of side surfaces of the cavity 12 facing the cut surfaces 21. Stabilizers 8 provided on a male terminal fitting 1 can come into contact with the back edges of the contact portions 23. A forward movement of the male terminal fitting 1 properly inserted is stopped by the contact with the front wall 13 and the contact of the stabilizers 8 with the contact portions 23. Since the contact portions 23 are formed taking advantage of spaces obtained by cutting off parts of the locking portion 18, they do not cause any enlargement of the cavity 12. Further, this portion of the locking portion 18 toward the leading end thereof from the locking projection 19 has almost no influence on the strength for locking the terminal fitting 1 so as not to be withdrawn backward, and the same degree of a locking force against the backward movement of the terminal fitting 1 as the locking portion of the prior art connector described above can be secured.

A preventing surface (27) is provided at the peripheral rear edge of the cavity (11) and abuts the stabilizer (47) when the female terminal fitting (30) is inserted in an improper posture. An angle of the preventing surface (27) to the inserting direction is less than an angle of the slanted guide surface (22).

The elongated projection (31) reinforces the lock (30) and provides a large engaging area with the terminal fitting (10). Additionally, the escaping groove (34) provides a necessary a deformation permitting space (35) for the thicker lock (30) without increasing the height of the housing (20).

    摘要: When two connector housings are half-fitted together, a fitting detecting connector causes one of the connector housings to be pushed in a direction of separation by means of springs which are provided within a female connector housing, a spring holder being inserted into this female connector housing so that it can move in an anterior-posterior direction. This spring holder houses springs and, when the two connector housings are being fitted together, a locking arm rises over a stopping protrusion. As a result of the locking arm rising, the spring holder is restrained, its movement in a posterior direction is regulated, and the springs are compressed. When the connector housings are completely fitted together the locking arm springs down, releasing the spring holder, and allowing it to move in a posterior direction under the spring force. All of the half-fitting detector components are provided on one of the connector housings; the other connector housing requires no modification.
