    摘要: A method of preparing the end of a coaxial cable for insertion within a coaxial cable connector involves stripping the cable jacket from the end of the cable, and reducing the outer diameter of the cable jacket portion lying adjacent the stripped portion of the jacket to a relatively constant reduced diameter. The reduced diameter portion of the cable jacket can then be reliably sealed to the back nut of the coaxial connector by an O-ring. A related preparation tool is disclosed for simultaneously stripping the cable jacket from the end of the cable, and reducing the outer diameter of the cable jacket portion lying adjacent the stripped portion, as the tool is rotated about the end of the coaxial cable. The tool may also serve to remove a portion of the outer conductor, as well as a coring member to remove dielectric surrounding the inner conductor of the cable.

    摘要: A coaxial cable connector having a front end for attachment to a terminal and a back end for attachment to a coaxial cable includes a body, a post mounted within the body; and a contact assembly movably mounted within the post. The contact assembly includes a guide, a contact mounted to the guide, and an insulator partially surrounding the contact. The contact assembly moves longitudinally toward the front end of the connector, such that the front end of the contact moves from a first position within the body to a second position proximate the connector interface, as the connector receives the coaxial cable. The guide has an opening for the center conductor, which is viewable to a user during attachment until the center conductor enters the opening. An adapter is also provided that can be shipped with connector for use in securing the coaxial cable connector on a coaxial cable.

    摘要: Disclosed is a coaxial connector consisting of a back nut, outer and inner terminals, and an insulator. The back nut is made of a single tubular piece and does not enclose any further parts. In connecting a coaxial cable to the connector, the cable is inserted through the back nut, and a portion of the outer conductor at the end of the cable is flared and shaped along a tapered clamping face of the back nut. The back nut is then axially displaced, as by threading the back nut over the outer terminal, to clamp the flared end of the outer conductor of the coaxial cable between the outer terminal of the connector and the back nut thereof.

    摘要: A coaxial connector includes a removable back nut, an outer body, and a center conductor supported within the outer body by a dielectric. The center conductor includes a female socket for receiving an exposed inner conductor of a coaxial cable, and a compression member compresses the female socket to seize the inner conductor as the back nut is secured to the outer body. In use, a prepared end of a coaxial cable is inserted through the back nut, and the end portion of the outer conductor of the coaxial cable is flared outwardly. As the back nut is tightened onto the outer body, the flared end of the outer conductor is directly clamped between integral clamping surfaces of the back nut and outer body. As the back nut is tightened, the compression member simultaneously engages the female socket to seize the inner conductor.

    摘要: A coaxial connector includes a removable back nut, an outer body, and a center conductor supported within the outer body by a dielectric. A clamp ring is rotatably disposed within the central bore of the back nut. A prepared end of a coaxial cable is inserted through the back nut, and the end portion of the outer conductor of the coaxial cable is flared outwardly. As the back nut is tightened onto the outer body, the flared end of the outer conductor is directly clamped between mating clamping surfaces formed on the clamp ring and the outer body. An optional compression member is provided, and is axially displaced into the outer body as the back nut is tightened for engaging the female socket to seize the inner conductor of the cable. A seal disposed in the back nut forms a seal between the back nut, the clamp ring, and the cable jacket. The back nut can be tightened without twisting the coaxial cable.

    摘要: An axially-compressible connector (200) for a hardline coaxial cable (1000) has a housing that includes a body (202), a coupling nut (210) and a compression can (208). A nonmetallic sleeve (302), which is mounted within the housing, has a tubular portion and an integral insulator portion. The insulator portion holds a contact (306) that has arms (311-314) for seizing an inner conductor (1002) of the hardline coaxial cable. A ferrule (408) is slip fit mounted within the housing, and seizes an outer conductor (1006) of the hardline coaxial cable. A gripping member (414) is mounted within the housing and seizes a jacket (1008) of the hardline coaxial cable. An actuator (412), which is mounted within the housing around a portion of the tubular portion of the sleeve, has an angled surface (413) to guide an end of the outer conductor toward the tubular portion of the sleeve, as the tubular portion of the sleeve is inserted into the end of the coaxial cable. The jacket is gripped by the gripping member only after the outer conductor is seized by the ferrule.

The coupler has a first end, a second end, and a bore extending therethrough. The latching assembly comprises a beam having a first end and a second end. The latching assembly pivotably connects to the base and has a plurality of teeth extending radially inwardly through a latch slot towards the bore of the coupler. A spring clip radially inwardly biases the coupler. The coupler has at least one compression slot that responds to the radially inwardly bias of the coupler, compressing the coupler radially inwardly and, thereby, providing a resiliently friction fit function to the coupler.

The gripping member has a front end and a rear end opposite the front end, and an outer surface and an inner surface defining a longitudinal hole extending between the front end and the rear end. The gripping member is configured to be forced under a body of a coaxial cable connector when driven axially forward by a shell of a coaxial cable connector to secure a coaxial cable to the connector.
