Abstract:
A punch assembly for a hydraulic punch press machine that affords the ability to compensate for punch point metal loss due to resharpening by facilitating accurate repositioning of the punch point relative to an aperture in a stripper plate through which the punch point member projects during a stamping stroke of the punch assembly.
Abstract:
A multiple punch and die assembly body member has dies or strippers that are held within multiple pockets in a multipunch body member by means of a centrally positioned retaining member formed from a rigid or flexible material located in a central recess at the middle of a ring of the surrounding dies or strippers. The retaining member is preferably held in place by a push plate that can be secured to the multipunch body member by a tightening element, e.g., a screw fastener for pressing the peripheral surface of the retainer member into engagement with the dies or strippers to hold them in their respective pockets in the multipunch body member.
Abstract:
A punch assembly for a turret punch press having a two piece reciprocally movable punch member that has a punch point insert removably attached to a punch driver that allows replacement of the punch point insert without the need to extract the punch member from its punch guide. A locking assembly comprising four vertical guideways containing slider strips for coupling the punch point insert to the punch driver ensures precision registration of the punch point insert with its driver.
Abstract:
A punch element is mounted for sliding movement in the guide sleeve or casing with the punch point at its lower end for forming or punching a workpiece. A stripper element is located at the lower end of the guide sleeve which defines the casing of the punch assembly, and the stripper element has an opening aligned with the punch point through which the punch point passes to engage the workpiece. A matrix placement chamber is provided within the casing between the punch point and the guide sleeve so as to at least partially surround the punch point and at least one flexible lubrication matrix body is contained in the matrix placement chamber inside the housing. The matrix which is enclosed entirely within the casing of the unitary punch assembly in which the punch reciprocates comprises an integral porous elastic multi-cellular polymeric body containing a multiplicity of hollow communicating cells adapted to hold a lubricant in fluid communication with the sidewalls of at least the point of the punch and in a preferred form completely surrounds the punch point. The lubrication matrix can also hold a cleaning agent or an abrasive in particulate form.
Abstract:
A multiple punch and multiple die assembly has a workpiece protector as a punch lifter that is operatively associated with each punch for supporting each of the punches in an inactive position as an active punch is moved by the ram to the active, i.e. operating position to thereby eliminate scoring or marking of the sheet material or other workpiece that is being punched. To eliminate the need for hand tools and hand assembly or disassembly, a manually moveable retainer on the punch assembly is provided that can be moved by hand between a punch-releasing and punch-retaining position for holding the punches within the multi-punch assembly during operation. To prevent stress fractures that formerly occurred in die carriers, support of each die is distributed between two different die components thereby reducing impact stress on the carrier as the ram drives the punch through the workpiece.
Abstract:
A punch press tool for stamping successive multicharacter impressions into a workpiece such as a piece of steel, sheet metal, or other workpiece, includes a guide body in which a stamp driver is slidably mounted for being driven downwardly toward the workpiece by a punch press ram which is a standard part of a high speed commercial punch press. A multicharacter marking stamp is supported at the lower end of the stamp driver for reciprocal movement therewith. The marking stamp includes multicharacter wheels that are rotated automatically during operation for advancing characters in sequence responsive to the movement of a character advancing arm. At least one character stamp operating lever is operatively associated with the punch press tool for articulation responsive to motion imparted to the tool by the ram. The lever has an operating element that is operatively associated with the character advancing arm of the multicharacter stamp for indexing the arm to enable successive characters thereof to be placed in an operating position responsive to a stroke of the punch press ram.
Abstract:
The punch unit comprises a punch driver connected with a punch which on its back end has a base. Furthermore, safeguarding members which keep the punch and the punch driver free of relative rotation during the stroke of the punch, and a pre-loaded compression spring which during the stroke of the punch can be compressed between the base and a guide bushing receiving the punch so that it cannot be rotated, but is axially displaceable, are part of it. To obtain a simpler and quicker assembly and disassembly of the punch it is provided that the pressure spring is maintained under pre-load in the guide bushing which is embodied as one or several pieces. A catch releasably supported on the rear end of the guide bushing and releasably engaging a recess, open toward the back, in the circumferential surface of the punch driver head prevents the punch driver head from jumping toward the back out of the guide bushing.
Abstract:
The punch unit is comprised of a punch driver connected with a punch and has a base at its rear end. Securing members keep the punch and the punch driver free of relative rotation during the stroke of the punch. A pre-loaded compression spring can be compressed between the base and a guide bushing receiving the punch, so that it cannot be rotated during the stroke of the punch, but is axially displaceable. To make possible an adjustment of the total length of the punch in arbitrarily small steps, without weakening the connection between the punch and the punch driver, it is provided that the back end of the pressure spring is supported on a spring seat at the rear end of a sliding bushing which is maintained in the guide bushing and is axially displaceable with respect thereto, and that at least the rear part of the punch driver is connected indirectly or directly with the punch via an adjustment screw thread and is in engagement with the sliding bushing in a manner secure against relative rotation by means of releasable securing members.
Abstract:
A punch or die component for a press brake apparatus includes a tool body having a coupling end adapted for coupling with a holder, and a working end adapted for operation on a workpiece. One or more magnetic elements can be adapted for selective engagement of the punch or die component within a press apparatus by magnetic coupling with the tool body, where the working end is configured for forming the workpiece by operation of the press apparatus. The magnetic coupling can be defined between the tool body and holder disposed adjacent the coupling end, or between the tool body and an adjacent punch or die component disposed along a side surface of the tool body, or both.
