    摘要: A vacuum cleaner assembly (10) comprising a main housing (12) having an inlet (14) and an outlet (16). A motor (17a) is disposed within the main housing (12) between the inlet (14) and the outlet (16) for providing motive force to a cooling fan (17b), a blower (17c), and a separator (22). The cooling fan (17b) is mounted within the main housing (12) above the motor (17a) to circulate cooling air around the motor (17a). The blower (17c) is mounted within the main housing (12) below the motor (17a) for drawing air into the inlet (14) and exhausting air outwardly through the outlet (16). The separator (22) is mounted below the blower (17c) for circulating the air and water bath (20) within a water bath pan (36) and provides, in combination with the water bath (20), a primary filter for filtering the air prior to exhausting the air outwardly toward the outlet (16) of the vacuum cleaner to atmosphere. A second filter assembly (24) is also provided preferably including a high efficiency filter (100 or 100a), or HEPA rated filter, for filtering microscopic dust and dirt particles that escape the separator (22) and water bath (20) and is disposed after both the water bath (20) and the separator (22) and before the outlet (16) for additional filtering of the air prior to being exhausted to atmosphere. Alternatively, it may be a non-HEPA rated filter (101) in some combinations as follows. The second filter assembly (24) may also include a third filter element, which may be a carbon impregnated filter (110) for absorbing or trapping odors and is disposed in the air flow path after the second filter (100, 101, or 100a) and before the outlet (16) to atmosphere. The second filter (100, 100a or 101) and third filter (110) element are secured in a frame (112) as part of the second filter assembly (24). The second filter (100, 101 or 100a) and the carbon impregnated filter (110) within the frame (112) are disposed in a recess (26) which is integral with the main housing (12) allowing for direct and efficient flow of the air through the water bath (20), separator (22), and second filter assembly (24).

    摘要: A cleaning tool having a height adjustment mechanism which may be overridden to prevent damage to the cleaning tool in the event an excessively high force is applied to an exterior surface of the cleaning tool. The height adjustment mechanism forms an overrideable clutch having a manually adjustable thumbwheel, a biasing member and a clutch member. The height adjustment assembly is operably associated with a roller assembly which supports the cleaning tool on a work surface at a desired height above the work surface. The application of a predetermined excessive force to an exterior surface of the cleaning tool causes the height adjustment assembly to be de-clutched to allow the lower surface of the cleaning tool to come in contact with the work surface, thereby preventing damage to the various internal components of the cleaning tool.

    摘要: A cleat for attachment to a device having a power cord. The cleat includes a center support attached to the device for selectively retaining the power cord adjacent to the device. A pair of cord retaining arms extend from the center support in opposite directions. The pair of cord retaining arms are supported by the center support for rectilinear movement between an extended position forming a cord wrapping pocket between each of the arms and the device for retaining the power cord about the center support and in the pockets and a retracted position closing the arms for releasing the power cord from the center support. In a preferred embodiment, the cleat further includes an intercoupling mechanism interconnecting the pair of arms for synchronous movement of one of the arms in response to the rectilinear movement of the other arm. The synchronous movement is movement in a direction opposite and through the same distance as the other arm. The intercoupling mechanism includes a first rack attached to one of the arms, a second rack attached to the other arm, and a ring gear meshed between the first rack and the second rack.

    摘要: A vacuum cleaner assembly having a separator of reduced dimensions. The separator is operated at preferably between about 20,000 rpm-30,000 rpm and includes a reduced number of slots formed therein. A labyrinth sealing plate and fan adapter are secured to an upper end of the separator to prevent water and dust and dirt particles from bypassing the separator during operation. The separator is preferably spaced from about 1.0 inch to about 6 inches above the upper surface of the liquid in a liquid reservoir of the vacuum cleaner assembly with which the separator is used. The separator, because of its reduced dimensions and weight, is able to be driven with a small conventional, and less costly and less powerful motor at a higher speed than previously designed separators without suffering breakage. The higher speed of 20,000-30,000 rpm helps to prevent the airflow through the separator from being impeded because of the reduced number of slots. The labyrinth sealing plate coupled to the separator helps to provide a labyrinth seal to prevent water and dust and dirt particles from bypassing the separator and entering the interior of a blower housing. In an alternative embodiment a spider member includes a circumferential raised shoulder portion which cooperates with a circumferential groove formed in a lower surface of the blower housing to form a labyrinth seal.

In a preferred embodiment, the cleaning tool comprises a multi-piece housing within which the manifold resides. The manifold includes a pair of outwardly flaring air passageways and is operable to selectively direct the vacuum force from a vacuum cleaner system more evenly across the undersurface of the cleaning tool to improve the pick-up of dust and dirt particles by the cleaning tool.

    摘要: A separator for use in connection with a liquid bath-type vacuum cleaner system. The separator includes an annular, cup-like housing adapted to rotate axially about its vertical axis for generating a centrifugal force to be applied to intake air therein; and a plurality of intake/exhaust slots formed in the housing for enabling dust and dirt particulates entrained in the intake air and liquid particulates from a liquid bath to be drawn into an interior area of the housing and coalesce therein, whereby the coalesced particulates are subjected to centrifugal force and are thereby separated from the intake air. The intake/exhaust slots further enable the coalesced particulates to be forcibly expelled from the interior area of the housing therethrough as they are forced radially outwards by the centrifugal force generated by the rapid, axial rotation of the housing.
