Abstract:
A handheld device for application to a skin surface of a human or animal. The device includes a housing arranged and configured for gripping by a human hand, a body-care surface operatively connected to the housing arranged and configured to transfer heat and motion to the skin surface, a motion-generating system contained within the housing, and a heat-generating element thermally coupled to the body-care surface. The motion-generating system includes a motor operatively coupled to the body-care surface to impart motion thereto and electrically coupled to an internal electric power source contained within the housing. The heat-generating element includes a container having at least one thermally conductive surface enclosing an electric heater in thermal contact with a thermal energy storage medium and an electrical connection for selective coupling to an external electrical power source.
Abstract:
A method includes the steps of: a) electrically connecting an electric heater to an external electrical power source, b) disconnecting the electric heater from the external electrical power source, c) energizing a motor contained within the housing to impart motion to a body-care surface, and d) applying the body-care surface to the skin surface while the electric heater is disconnected from the external electrical power source. The electric heater heats a thermal energy storage medium in thermal contact therewith, and the electric heater and thermal energy storage medium are associated with a handheld device having a housing arranged and configured for gripping by a human hand. The motor imparts motion to a body-care surface operatively connected to the housing and in thermal contact with the thermal energy storage medium.
Abstract:
An apparatus for examining and curing urinary incontinence and exercising the pelvic floor muscles and vaginal muscles using bio-feedback including a controller main body, a probe, and a bio-feedback device. The probe includes: an insert frame extending in a longitudinal direction thereof, an insert expansion part surrounding adjacent to a front end of the insert frame and expandable therearound; an air supply path connected to the interior of the insert expansion part to supply air; a handle engaged with the insert frame; a fixing means for fixing the insert expansion part to the insert frame or the handle; a valve installed at the air supply path; and a PTC ceramic heater and a vibration motor installed at the insert frame. An elastic member includes a magnet, an insertion depth adjustment part, and leg support parts installed at the insertion depth adjustment part. The bio-feedback device includes a sound generating means, and an image display means. The main body includes a controller for controlling each component, a motorized air pump, an air flow detection sensor, a pressure detection sensor, a spring air cylinder, a solenoid air injection valve, an air tank, etc. Therefore, it is possible for a user to readily perform examination and treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor muscle (vagina muscle) reinforcement exercise using bio-feedback.
Abstract:
A vibratory massage device with a heating element is disclosed. The device includes a housing with an upwardly extending shaft means, an applicator head connected by the shaft means to the housing so as to be supported thereby, and a heating element arranged within the applicator head. The applicator head has a top face generally perpendicular to the axis of the shaft means and a side face generally parallel to that axis, and is driven to effect vibrations transverse to that axis with respect to the housing. The top face of the applicator head, when placed against the area of a human body, will move substantially in the plane of that portion during the above vibratory motion so as to apply a rubbing massage action thereto, while the side face, when placed against the body, will vibrate in the direction generally perpendicular to the area of the body so as to apply a tapping massage action thereto. Said top face and one part of said side face are defined respectively by a rigid top face and rigid side face to both of which the heat from the heating element is applicable, whereby the operator can enjoy a combined heat-massage treatment in each of the rubbing and tapping massages. In addition to the above, the other part of said side face is defined by a resilient side face capable of being compressibly deformed when placed against the body such that a relatively gentle tapping massage can be obtained by utilizing the resilient side face as a body-contacting surface, in contrast to that a relatively strong tapping massage can be obtained by utilizing the second rigid member to be engaged with the area of the body.
