摘要: A method and apparatus for the detection of pits and abnormalities in various stone fruits. The apparatus transmits a first plurality of beams of light (18) across inspection zone (14) and transmits a second plurality of beams of light (22) across inspection zone (14) in a direction opposite to beams of light (18). As a stone fruit (10) passes through inspection zone (14), a first plurality of sensors (32) and a second plurality of sensors (34) detect the variations in the intensity of the transmitted beams of light. The light transmittance and reflectance characteristics of the stone fruit are analyzed to detect the presence of a pit or internal or external abnormality.

摘要: A novel particle sorting system based on vibrations induced by impact against a strike plate is disclosed, wherein two strike plates in succession are used, the first to absorb kinetic energy from certain particles on a preferential basis due to particle composition, and the second to absorb the residual kinetic energy for analysis. Vibrations arising in the second strike plate due to particle impact which meet preset criteria corresponding to undesired particles are used to actuate an ejection system which sends an impulse to the offending particle, deflecting it from its otherwise undisturbed trajectory. Also disclosed is an analyzing circuit which combines two or more waveform features of the vibration signal in an algorithm such as a ratio, to provide an unusually high sensitivity for discrimination among the particles. In addition, the need to form a single file of particles before they can be put through the system is avoided by the use of a curved surface to convert the particle mixture to a free-falling monolayer, and by sensing impacts of the second strike plate in a region-specific manner.

摘要: A particle scattering prevention device for use in a color sorting apparatus for sorting particles according to their colors, the apparatus being of the type having a photoelectric sorting chamber accommodating a photoelectric detectors; and a blowing nozzle device adapted to operate in response to the detection output from the photoelectric detector to selectively blow air to the flow of particles to sort out the particles of the different color. The device has a scattering prevention wall disposed between the photoelectric detector and the blowing nozzle device and having a passage bore to permit the flowing particles to pass therethrough, thereby to divide the space in the photoelectric sorting chamber into a light detecting section and a blowing sorting section. Thanks to the provision of the scattering prevention wall, the dusts and particles suspended by the blown air in the blowing sorting section are prevented from coming into the light detecting section to eliminate the erroneous sorting operation attributable to the presence of dusts and particles in the light detection section. The undesirable attaching of dusts to the photoelectric detectors, as well as suspension of particles by the air, is suppressed further by means of a suction blower connected to the blowing sorting section, or means forming air curtains in parallel with and in the close proximity of transparent window plates of optic detection chambers housing the photoelectric detectors.

摘要: Sorting apparatus for individual elements comprising an aperture and a shiftable body having a plurality of separate chutes each associated with a respective receptacle. The elements are passed individually through the aperture and are received in one of the chutes of the shiftable body which chute delivers the element to the respective receptacle. This delivery through the chute takes place while the shiftable member may be undergoing repositioning. While one element is in the process of being delivered to a predetermined receptacle, the procedure may be underway for receiving the next succeeding element and passing the next element to a different predetermined receptacle.

摘要: Apparatus for rapidly and reliably sorting valuable bodies from non-valuable bodies on the basis of a detectable parameter thereof. The apparatus comprises means for inferring the profile/locations and paths with respect to time of actually individual bodies when moving as a closely packed stream at a known rate; for obtaining value/location signals with respect to time diagnostic of value sources within the stream; for relating the time base value/location signals to actually individual bodies having corresponding time base profile/locations; for assigning valuable or non-valuable nominations to appropriate such bodies; and for precisely deflecting say the nominated valuable bodies from the stream. The invention is particularly applicable to the high speed sorting of size-classified rocks, such as pieces of ore, and provides a technique of logically distinguishing between the component rocks of a clustered association moving as a spurious unit in the stream. By separating out the component rocks of a spurious unit, it becomes possible according to the invention precisely to assign value nominations thereto and to effect sorting with accuracy.
