Abstract:
The receiving pocket of a cigarette group forming apparatus consists of an open-ended tubular member provided at its interior with two partitions defining three pocket sections, one for each row of cigarettes forming the cigarette group. The partitions extend at the interior of the receiving pocket, from the introduction or inlet end towards the outlet end, for a fraction of the length on the receiving pocket, usually for 1/3 of its length. The partitions become thinner in the direction of the outlet end, and they are also converging in the said direction. Also the inner upper and lower side walls of the receiving pocket converge in the direction of the outlet end.
Abstract:
A stabilizing device for cigarette packaging machines in which cigarettes to be packed are transferred in rows from a first stationary container to each of a plurality of containers movable by means of a conveyor system, each movable container having a base and an opening at an end opposite the base, wherein the movable containers are arranged in line for intermittent movement past the first container. The device comprises a stabilizing arm having a step in a surface adjacent the second container, which step defines two stabilizing surfaces. The step has a dimension which is equal to a whole number multiple of a diameter of the cigarette to be packaged. The stabilizing device is arranged to be intermittently movable with the movable containers, and also movable between a first operative position in which the surfaces define, with at least some of the bases of the movable containers, a space for occupation by a row or rows of cigarettes and a second inoperative position spaced from the second containers, the first operative position coinciding with movement of the containers.
Abstract:

The reservoir comprises two chambers (12, 13) having adjustable capacity and separated by a partition (24). The first chamber (12) is coupled with a first filling level sensing means (14) for sensing a filling level of the first chamber (12), and the second chamber (13) is equipped with a second filling level sensing means (15) for sensing a filling level of the second chamber (13).
Abstract:
A method for producing packs for cigarettes, in which at least one group of cigarettes is wrapped in an inner wrapper and is introduced into a pocket of a folding turret and therein is packed in a blank for the pack, and a corresponding apparatus and to a pack for cigarettes. At least one dimension of the at least one cigarette group does not correspond to the respective dimension of the interior space of the pack, the at least one deviating dimension is equalized by at least one filler piece, and the at least one filler piece is wrapped in the inner wrapper conjointly with at least one cigarette group.
Abstract:
The subject of the application is a device which supports mass flow of rod-shaped articles of the tobacco industry in a transport channel, having at least two segments (2, 3) connected by a connecting element (4), characterised in that the segments (2) are provided with positioning means (7, 8) which mate with the elements of the conveyor to set the position of the supporting device relative to the elements of the conveyor (5a, 5b). Furthermore, the subject of the application is a method of supporting mass flow of rod-shaped articles of the tobacco industry in a transport channel section characterised in that a supporting device (1) is introduced into the transport channel in the inlet part of the section being filled up provided with positioning means (7, 8) which with the elements of the conveyor set the position of the supporting device relative to the elements of the conveyor belt (5a, 5b), subsequently, the mass flow of rod-shaped articles is started in such a way so that the face of the mass flow is supported on the last segment of the supporting device, after which the travel of the belt of the conveyor in the remaining part of the section of the transport channel being filled up is started such that the mass flow of rod-shaped articles fills up the space of the channel section, supported on the last segment of the supporting device.
Abstract:
The system for transferring rod-shaped articles comprises a reservoir for holding a plurality of rod-shaped articles and a conveyor band comprising a seat adapted to receive a rod-shaped article from the reservoir. The system further comprises a speed compensator for compensating a speed variation of a portion of the conveyor band such that a speed of another portion of the conveyor band is kept constant. There is also provided an arrangement for retaining rod-shaped articles in a conveyor band. The arrangement comprises a conveyor wheel, wherein the seat is guidable in the conveyor band around the conveyor wheel and comprises an offset conveyor band arranged in parallel and at a distance to the conveyor band along a section of the conveyor band. The distance is adapted such that the offset conveyor band is to contact a rod-shaped article in the seat of the conveyor band along the section of the conveyor band, wherein the section of the conveyor band comprises at least the part of the conveyor band that is being guided around the conveyor wheel.
Abstract:
Device for transferring cylindrical segments from a hopper onto a grouping belt is provided with a guiding drum, having flutes on its periphery and a circumferentially closed conveyor which delivers segments to a rotary element with pushers. Conveyor with seats with a catching element for catching segments, and transferring the segments from the conveyor to the element is effected by means of a spiral drum. The device has a push-down element constituted by a cam with a groove of a height corresponding to the diameter of the segment. The catching element has the form of a depression in the body of the seat shaped as a half of a cylinder, corresponding to the diameter of the segment, with locks on edges, whereas the axis of the depression is perpendicular to the direction of motion of the conveyor.
Abstract:
For the production of cigarette groups (11) having a formation comprising a plurality of vertical rows of cigarettes (10) arranged one beside the other, after pushing a corresponding number of cigarettes (10) out of shafts (13) of a cigarette magazine (12), a transverse displacement of the cigarettes (10) is required in order to arrange same in a tightly packed or saddle configuration. At least marginal push rods (18) for pushing the cigarettes (10) out of the shafts (13) of the cigarette magazine (12) can be displaced transversely together with the cigarettes.
Abstract:
A cigarette packer (1) incorporates a station at which cigarettes (2) are formed into groups (12) and from which the groups (12) are advanced by a first conveyor (13) along a first feed path (P) toward a wrapping station (16). A first inspection device (24) located along the first feed path (P) detects initially whether or not there are any defective cigarettes (2) in each group (12), and a second inspection device (45) located along a second conveyor (30) then identifies the single defective cigarettes (2) detected by the first device (24); the second inspection device (45) operates in conjunction with a rejection unit (46) by which defective cigarettes (2) are removed from the second conveyor (30).
Abstract:
Article wrapping apparatus for wrapping or folding a wrapper blank around an article which may comprise or contain a group of rod-like articles such as cigarettes, includes a wrapper blank former which simultaneously folds sides and ends of a blank (60) by plunging the former (64) around an article holder (58) and subsequently plunging the article from the holder into the former. The apparatus also includes a housing (24) for supporting a partially-wrapped article which is pivoted relative to an abutment (32) so that a flap is swept into a closed position; and pivoted holders (24, 54) which are used to transfer articles between axially-spaced process positions on a process drum (6). Folding operations may be performed during transfer to or from a pivotable holder (24, 54), particularly in a radial direction of the drum (6).
