    摘要： A lifting hook is provided for balanced lifting of coils of rolled sheet metal of varying widths. The lifting hook has a lifting frame that includes a lower arm with a forward end for penetrating a lumen of a coil. A counterweight is provided that slides along a forward portion of an upper arm of the frame. A lifting assembly also slides on the frame and is arranged to move intermediate the counterweight and a rearward portion of the frame. A leadscrew assembly including a first leadscrew and a second leadscrew having first and second pitches respectively is provided. The first leadscrew is threadedly engaged by the counterweight and the second leadscrew is threadedly engaged by the lifting assembly. The second leadscrew has a pitch that is twice the first leadscrew pitch.

    摘要： A clamp is configured for use with a coil handler device for grasping, lifting and transporting a coil of material, the material coiled in such a manner as to have an outer periphery and an inner periphery. The handler device includes a frame and a lifting assembly. The clamp includes a body, and first and second clamping surfaces for engaging and securing the coil along a radial line at the inner and outer peripheries of the coil. A first clamp leg is elongated in a direction along the radial line. A second clamp leg is fixedly connected to the first clamp leg, transverse to the first clamp leg at a first end. The second clamp leg has a second end operably connected to the lifting assembly for raising and lowering the coil secured by the clamping element. First and second clamp arms are positioned along the first clamp leg for securing the coil at the inner and outer peripheries. The first clamp arm is spaced from the second clamp leg and the second clamp arm is intermediate the first clamp arm and the second clamp leg. The first clamp arm is fixed relative to the body and the second clamp arm is movable relative to the body. A coil handling device having the clamp is also disclosed.

    摘要： An auxiliary protective coil lifter saddle adapted to be mounted on an arm of a coil lifter for transporting a coil of material having an inner surface defining a core, the arm having a lifting segment with a lifting surface and two side walls depending therefrom. The auxiliary protective coil lifter saddle includes a frame and a pad. The frame has a body with at least two opposite ends and a plurality of lugs, wherein at least one of the lugs attaches to a respective end of the body. The body and the lugs have upper surfaces and lower surfaces. The pad attaches to the upper surface of the body and is made of a soft resilient material such as polyurethane, whereby a bottom surface of the body can be placed on the lifting surface of the arm and the lugs deform so that the lugs depend from the body. The respective bottom surfaces of the lugs abut against the lifting segment. Accordingly, the inner surface of the coil rests on an upper surface of the pad. Also disclosed is a method of attaching the auxiliary saddle to a coil lifter, that includes placing the bottom surface of the body on the upper surface of the arms and subsequently deforming the lugs so that they depend from the body and the respective bottom surfaces of the lugs abut against the lifting segment. The saddle can be removed using a wedge.

    摘要： A coil edge protecting coil lifter and insert. The insert mounts within a cavity through an aperture in the front wall of each lifter arm of the coil lifter. The edges of a coil contact with a protruding portion of an endless belt which extends through the aperture and outwardly beyond each front wall. A low-friction wear plate atop a backing plate is positioned behind the endless belt and causes the belt to protrude outwardly. The endless belt can be made to additionally protrude through an aperture in the rear wall of each lifter arm.
