摘要： An apparatus and method for automatically forming pompons from a continuous strip of fringed web includes a pair of clamping jaws for gripping and advancing the web to a coiling station, a separable coiling spindle, and a binding tongs mechanism. When the web is moved to the coiling station, the coiling spindles are inserted into an aperture in the clamping jaws and clamp the end of the web. Thereafter, the clamping jaws are released and moved back to their initial position while the coiling spindle is rotated to coil a predetermined length of the fringed web. The binding tongs are then moved over the coiled section and draw a binding wire tightly about the periphery of the coil after the web is severed to separate the coil therefrom. The binding tongs are closed to clamp the binding wire and then are rotated to secure the wire about the coiled web. Closing of the tongs cuts the wire. A pair of compression members having rotationally symmetrical, concave faces are closed about the coiled strip to compression-shape the needles or fringed members of the web into an approximately spherical pompon shape.

摘要： A glove having a pom pom freely attached to a tip of one or more of the glove fingers. The glove may bear indicia, for example, a team logo. The pom poms are typically multicolored, consisting of strands of the team, school, or organization colors. The gloves provide warmth to the wearer's hands. In addition, the wearer's hands are free to hold other items, for example, beverage containers, cameras, programs, etc. Selective movement of a wearer's fingers and/or thumb causes a respective pom pom to move in response thereto. Patterns of successive finger/thumb movements may be executed to cause a variety of visual effects from the pom pom-bearing glove. Bells and/or light sources may also be attached to the gloves instead of or in addition to the pom poms. A motion sensitive switch and/or a simple sequencer may be used to create predetermined or random light patterns.

摘要： A method is provided for manufacturing bath ruffles or sponges. The method includes radially stretching over spaced upright supports one or more lengths of resilient extruded polymeric netting tube to form a telescopically gathered continuous band around the supports. A loop securing device is then positioned around opposed portions of the band centrally between the upright supports such that the opposed portions of the band are securely held together. Opposed portions of the telescopically gathered continuous band are then progressively released separately over respective upper ends of the spaced supports to form a generally spherical bath ruffle or sponge.
