788,173. Liquefaction and revaporization of gases. CONSTOCK LIQUID METHANE CORPORATION. Jan. 31, 1955 [May 10, 1954], No. 2834/55. Class 8(2). Liquefaction of natural gas comprising mostly methane issuing at 2500 p.s.i. and 80‹F. from a well 1, Fig. 4, is effected by preliminary cooling in an exchanger 5 traversed by the gas having been expanded to 1000 p.s.i. at a valve 6 and freed from liquefied higher hydrocarbons which are collected in a separator 8, and then by cooling in an exchanger 12 freeing from carbon dioxide and water vapour in an amine contacter 14 and drier 17 expanding to just below atmospheric pressure and -259‹F. in a turbine 20 and collecting methane so liquefied in a separator 23 ; residual gas being recompressed and after cooled at 28 to 1000 p.s.i., cooled in an exchanger 26 to -95‹F. and added to the gas entering the turbine 20, which, assisted by a steam turbine 31 fed by a boiler 32 fired with some of the recompressed methane, serves to drive the compressor 28. The liquid methane is forced by a pump 35 through a duct 34 to a plurality of metal tanks 36, Fig. 1, loaded on a water-borne vessel 24 powered by an engine 68 running on methane vaporized from the tanks 36 and' stored in a chamber 66. To this end each tank has a balsa wood lining 37, Fig. 3, which conducts sufficient ambient heat to vaporize a portion of the liquid methane and which passes through a duct 49 to the storage chamber 66. Excess gas is vented to atmosphere through a valved port 46, a header 47 and a nozzle 62 of an injector supplied with air from a blower 65. Rapid vaporization of the liquid methane at the destination port is effected by a heating coil 42 and a superheater coil 43 in a closed circuit traversed by a low boiling point liquid forced from a reservoir 54a by a pump 50. The cold so removed from the tanks 36 by the circulating liquid serves to chill brine in a chamber 54 supplied by a pump 58 from a cold storage chamber 56. Blocks of solid carbon-dioxide at the bottom of each tank 36 provides an inert atmosphere during discharge of liquid methane. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 766,128.
摘要:
In a method for liquefying a gas rich in carbon dioxide, the gas is compressed to a first pressure greater than its critical pressure in a compressor to form a compressed gas, the compressed gas is cooled through heat exchange with a refrigerant to a variable temperature to form a cooled compressed gas with a density between 370 and 900 kg/m3, the cooled compressed gas is cooled at supercritical pressure in a first heat exchanger to a temperature below the critical temperature, the gas cooled below the critical temperature is expanded to a second pressure between 45 and 60 bara to form a diphasic fluid which is separated in a phase separator to form a liquid and a gas, and a liquid portion originating from the phase separator provides cold to the first heat exchanger.

The present invention comprises systems and methods for natural gas liquefaction. In embodiments, the systems comprise a dual turbo-expander, methane-based refrigeration system that also uses a slip stream of LNG for additional cooling.

The present invention provides a method of liquefying a contaminated hydrocarbon-containing gas stream: (a) providing a CO2 contaminated hydrocarbon-containing gas stream (20); (b) cooling the contaminated hydrocarbon-containing gas stream to obtain a partially liquefied stream (70); (c) separating the partially liquefied stream obtaining a liquid stream (90); (d) cooling the liquid stream (90) in a direct contact heat exchanger (200) obtaining a multiphase stream (201) containing at least a liquid phase and a solid CO2 phase; (e) separating the multiphase stream in a solid-liquid separator (202) obtaining a CO2 depleted liquid stream (141); (f) passing the CO2 depleted liquid stream (141) to a further cooling, pressure reduction and separation stage to generate a further CO2 enriched slurry stream (206); (g) passing at least part of the further CO2 enriched slurry stream (206) to the direct contact heat exchanger (200) to provide cooling duty to and mix with the liquid stream (90).
摘要:
A process for liquefying methane-rich gases comprising providing a stream of feed methane-rich gas at a pressure of from 40 bar to 120 bar and containing higher hydrocarbons; providing a stream of methane-rich recycle gas at a pressure of from 40 bar to 120 bar; mixing the feed gas with a first part of the recycle gas; passing the resulting mixture to a gas expander, the expander outlet having a pressure of between 3 bar and 50 bar, so as to form a mixture of vapor and a condensed liquid containing higher hydrocarbons; separating the expander outlet stream into a liquid stream and a vapor stream; reheating and compressing said vapor stream to a pressure of from 40 bar to 120 bar to form a first constituent of the above-said recycle gas; cooling a second part of the said recycle gas to a temperature higher than the outlet temperature of the said expander; passing said cooled second part of the recycle gas into a liquefaction unit to form liquefied methane and a second vapor stream; reheating and compressing said second vapor stream to a pressure of from 40 bar to 120 bar to form a second constituent of the above-said recycle gas.
