    摘要: There are provided cable architectures useful for constructing high-performance audio interconnection cables. Multiple, parallel runs of multiconductor, shielded, twisted pair cable are used to construct both balanced and unbalanced interconnect cables, speaker cables, and power cords. Conductors from each cable run are separated and connected to other conductors from other runs to form composite signal and ground conductors. Shields may be selectively connected to one another and to appropriate pins or terminals of a terminating connector. An overall mother shield may, optionally, be added. Individual runs of cable are braided together. Cables constructed in accordance with the geometries and techniques of the invention sound better than any known cables of the prior art. When measured, the inventive cables exhibit a ratio of capacitance to inductance that is lower that prior art cables. The characteristic impedance of the inventive cables is also lower than cables of the prior art.

A choke conductor is wound about the internal conductor in the shape of a spiral. If lightning strikes near the cable or a device which is attached to the cable, such as an antenna, the choke conductor presents a high impedance to the current caused by lightning and will prevent the lightning current from flowing down the choke conductor, thus entering the internal conductor, thereby preventing damage to the internal conductor and any associated electronic equipment. Preferably, a shield is also wound about the internal conductor adjacent to the choke conductor in a direction opposite to the choke conductor, whereby the angle formed by the crossing of the choke conductor and the shield is approximately 90° to block the magnetic field component of the lightning discharge. The choke conductor and the shield may be wound about a conduit which houses the cable.

The cable assembly may be implemented in either a single channel configuration where two of the four wires are electrically connected with the positive terminal while the remaining two conductors are inner connected with the negative terminal. A dual channel configuration is also presented and provides high common mode rejection due to the orthogonal nature of the braiding pattern of the individual conductors.

    摘要: Audio cabling includes a first conductor in conductive communication with the positive side of the source or of the load. It extends towards but terminates free of the load if it is connected to the source and free of the source if it is connected to the load. A second conductor has a first end in conductive communication with the negative side of the source or of the load. If it is connected to the source negative side it has a second end which extends towards but terminates free of the load. If it is connected to the load negative side it has a second end which extends toward but terminates free of the source. The conductors are separated from one another by a non-conductor. They are sufficiently long whereby they are in adjacent side by side relation at least along portions thereof. High frequency noise which can affect the ear's perception of audio frequency signals is reduced as are low frequency resonance effects.
