摘要: A lavatory bench, or toilet, in which solid wastes are collected and biologically decomposed. The bench comprises a container beneath the seat and near the top of the container is a rotary member to which material is supplied and which, while rotating, distributes the material within the container. The container is advantageously heated. A casing is provided which supports the seat and which surrounds the container and from which there leads a lead stack, or outlet pipe. The rotation of the aforesaid member causes air circulation within the device and promotes the movement of air out through the outlet pipe. The rotatable member near the top of the container also serves the function of shutting off the inside of the container from view.

摘要: A decomposition toilet with a casing having a downwardsrearwards sloping grid for faeces and a heating element in the casing bottom for heating urine by conduction. A thermostat for switching the heating element on and off is located immediately on top of the heating element so as to detect presence or absence of urine. An air inlet is located at the casing front below the grid and air passes over the casing bottom, through a duct inside the casing rear wall to an exhaust fan at the rear top casing portion.

摘要: There is provided a dry closet of the type with which human waste charged thereto is rendered less obnoxious by biological decomposition processes. The closet has a bed of material capable of biologically decomposing excrements received thereon. Means are provided for stirring the bed to break up the bed so as to ensure sufficient aeration of same and to prevent the accumulation of feces on top of the bed. At least the surface on which the bed rests in the closet is provided with means for permitting passage of biologically decomposed matter from the interior of the closet to a withdrawable box arranged therebeneath. The effectiveness of the sanitary arrangements for summer cottages, holiday cabins and like unmodernized dwelling places has become the subject of serious discussion with the majority of organizations concerned with the care and protection of the environment, especially since the number of temporary so-called recreation cottages and cabins has greatly increased in latter years. Different types of closets have been designed, in an attempt to meet the requirements of effective sanitation where there is no possibility of connecting such dwelling places with existing municipal sewage systems. The present invention relates to the type of closet with which human excrement is decomposed biologically. Closets with which feces and urine are biologically decomposed and the water content of the urine evaporated off are at present commercially available. It should be noted, however, that an adult person produces each day an average 1.5 litres of urine and 0.25 kg of feces, the urine being the most troublesome waste to handle. If the urine is not subjected to the correct treatment, the urine is converted to an alkaline, illsmelling ammonium carbonate solution. Under poor conditions the bacteriological decomposition of feces and soiled toilet paper gives rise to the generation of ill-smelling gases, such as hydrogen sulphide, methane etc. With some known closets, the waste products are received on an absorbent bed of sawdust, wood chips or the like. The disadvantage with such devices, however, is that repeated use of the closet causes the absorbent bed to be compressed, so that the resorption ability of the bed is rapidly impaired, whereby the decomposition takes place more slowly.

摘要: A portable toilet facility includes a plurality of seriesconnected aerobic digestion tanks within a walled enclosure. Venting of the air spaces of the tanks is accomplished with a vane-type air scoop which faces into the wind and conducts air to one of the air spaces, an exhaust vent conduit extending from one of the other air spaces to the exterior of the enclosure.

摘要: Arrangement for collecting and composting night-soil and other biodegradable material, comprising a space (23) in which a starting bed (29) has been spread out in order to accelerate the breakdown of material (30) which is dropped down onto the starting bed. The space (23) is lined with an inner layer of a flexible, liquid-impermeable material forming a sack-like container (8) which is open at the top. The starting bed (29) is arranged in the sack-like container, and the arrangement comprises members (40) for pressing the upper edge portion of the container against a ceiling (36) which is located under the floor (32) of at least one overhead toilet and is provided with at least one opening for attachment to a toilet bowl. The sack-like container (8) is designed to enclose the material (30) while the latter is being broken down, and the container comprises members for conveying liquid, which has been separated off from the material, via a screen arrangement (31). The sack-like container (8) is also designed to serve as an enclosure for transporting the completely or partially broken down material. The invention also relates to a method for collecting and composting night-soil.

摘要: A composting toilet for composting toilet waste, which toilet comprises a composting chamber, in which the toilet waste is received and when needed is mixed with a decomposition-boosting material in order to decompose this compost into humus, a humus-collection box, which is located underneath the composting chamber for collection and emptying of the humus from the composting chamber, and a grid positioned between the composting chamber and the humus-collection box and formed with through-passage openings, said grid arranged to support the compost and to allow fall-through of the humus from the composting chamber to the humus-collection box. Underneath the grid a sliding damper is arranged for regulation of the degree of openness of the openings in the grid and of the fall-through of the humus in order thus to control the decomposition process in the composting chamber by regulation of the moisture balance in the compost contained in the composting chamber.
